Vague Illusions
or; snapshot #4

It's been a long time since I've posted a "snapshot of the moment", as I've been wont to do (here, here, and here).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The pine needles prick my spine as I lean back, looking up into the sky, watching the drifts of snowy clouds saunter through the blue readiness. Anticipation builds up inside me, slowly coming to a climax, abating, calming, flowing assuredly to the other extreme.
I feel trapped in a pendulum of emotion.
The notes flow through my ears, connecting, coalescing into a melody most sublime. Your voice quivers – I can sense your apprehension as you sing me your siren song, wavering slightly, yet gaining strength with each passing second. The husky contralto crescendos, decrescendos, crescendos once again. In the last moment, you sing the final, culminating note – and I’m left in the garden of silence once again.
Our eyes meet. “Well, that’s my song,” is all you say. It’s all you have to say.
I wrap my arms around you, pulling you closer to me, running my hands across your seamless back. I smile as I move nearer, ever nearer.
“It was perfect.”
