Why is the "Create New Ship Style" button greyed out?

Has the feature not been implemented yet?

When selecting a ship style under "Appearance" during civilization selection, the "Create New Ship Style" button is greyed out. Is this a yet-to-be-implemented feature, or did my game install improperly?

I don't know about you, but mine works. Read-only setting comes to mind of the Data\English files, but I don't think it would work that way...

Mine doesn't work either. Neither does my girlfriends (another copy on another pc, same issue.)

Ah, I have the culprit!
The function only works when you edit/create opponents.

Does not compute...
So there's really no such thing, it's just modification of existing ship styles. Well, it could at least let me give it a name based of the name of the custom civilization? Bah...

As noted by danielost, the customizability possible within the game is limited to associating templates you've made with AI ship roles (and saving these sets as new styles named whatever you like), so the AIs will use those templates when designing its ships. This is why the button is disabled during player race customization (being a human, you can use whatever templates you want).

If you want to make a completely new style for player use, which does not share templates with one of the core styles, you would need to edit the style files manually to change the template prefix, etc.
