Immortal dread lords

So i am playing in the Death of korx mission in Dark avatar. My combat tactic against the dreadlords is to mass fleets of fighters armed with plasma but my main problem is that when a dread lord ship is about to die (1 hit point) and i attack it, suddenly all of its hit points are restored.I have managed to destroy only 1 escort with the price of the initial (overlord???) capital ship but every time i am about to kill any other one of their ships they just replenish their hit points!!!!
I don't get it...Is this a feature to make the mission harder or is this a bug???
Help needed.

Also run the stickied combat simulation of kryo on the top...
My 5 Star fury fleet armed with 6 beam and 7 hit points each should always win over the 223 missile and 28 hit point dread lord frigate...(with casualties but 100% is a big difference from 0%)

The combat sim is not updated for DA's new combat system, so it will not give accurate results outside of the original game.

Because the DL ship is so powerful, and because (thanks to DA's new system) it can split it's weaponsfire among all your ships, both sides end up destroying each other. When that happens, the tougher of the last ships on each side survives the battle with 1 HP (obviously, this is going to be the DL).

The simplest way to beat it once it is down to 1 HP is to just mass a fleet of tiny ships with a single gun on each (so they're cheap as possible). If you have at least one ship more in your fleet than the number of missile launchers on the DL ship, you can survive its first volley and win the battle.

I do believe the part where its HP are restored after battle is a bug, related to leveling up after so many kills.
