ETA to next patch?

I hate to sound impatient, and this is not meant to flame, but I was wondering if there was any sort of estimate available for the release of the next patch. I'm not just eager for new features, there are two serious gameplay concerns that severely hamper my ability to play and enjoy the game. Both have been discussed in multiple threads, so I won't belabor the details, but suffice to say the CTD upon loading a saved game was bad enough, add to this the FOW/Map Clearing issue, and attempting to play the game successfully, for any length of time, without frustration, becomes an exercize in futility. I'm aware that the devs are working hard, as usual, to fix these errors, and that a fix for the FOW issue is at hand. I was just hoping for some sort of information as to when a patch might be released that addresses these two, in my opinion, severe gameplay issues. I understand time limitations in sifting through lines of code and commoning up with a fix can be time consuming, so I don't want it to sound like I want an immediate and perfect fix yesterday. Information on the progress of fixing the saved game CTD issue, and information on an ETA to patch for both these issues would be appreciated. Until then I'll leave the game on the shelf, and just troll the forums. Thanks.

By the sounds of it, I'd be surprised if we didn't have something Monday that dealt with the fog of war issue. Apparently it has already been fixed, they just didn't have time to post it on Stardock before the weekend. As for CTD, that's the first I've heard of it. I'm hoping they can deal with these issues seperately if it turns out to be a more complex problem. Far more people are being affected by the fog of war thing, they shouldn't have to wait until both are fixed.

I'm surprised you ahvent heard of the CTD issue, it's all over the bugand DA forums. I wasn't suggesting they relase both at once, or one before the other. I wasn't, in fact, suggesting anything. I was just looking for information. As I said,

Well like I said, the fog of war issue has been fixed, it just hasn't been released yet due to time constraints. So we'll probably see something as soon as Stardock gets back to work. At least I'm hoping we do. I can't play the game while that thing keeps popping up. I've never had that CTD issue you're describimg myself, though I have had others. Nothing really repeatable though, just isolated crashes for no understandable reason.

Frankly, considering that this has been in public beta for months it has quite a number of issues. With the amount of people that have been playing it all this time, I would have expected something a bit more polished.

I think there should be a bug fix patch, and then a seperate tweak and feature patch. Its not really fair for people who can't play to wait so the rest of us can have new stuff.

I'd prefer bug fixes over new stuff for sure, too.

It seems like with GC I'm always waiting for a patch because there's always at least one bug/issue that makes the game not as fun as I expect it should be. Right now, the state of tech trading is a mess and there are some key bugs that hose my style.

Apparently a ton of people enjoy it as is, no matter how it is, but I think I'm growing more picky over time, as it's not just GC - I have many games that I'm having a hard time enjoying due to bugs, balance issues, or performance issues. PC gaming has just become really bad with QA lately or something.

I find myself getting more particular about these things myself. I just don't have as much patience when it comes to bugs as I used to. I get down right irritated sometimes when I encounter something I know isn't supposed to be there. And unfortunately, that seems to happen with pretty much every game I pick up these days.

Yes, that's the way it usually works with this game. Feature updates come along now and again, with bug patches between as needed. I'm sure a fog of war fix will be up very shortly.

i'm gonna go on a limb and say i think the CTD issue might take longer because it doesn't seem to be affecting everyone. i've heard about it, but never experienced it. DA is very stable on my system.

I'm still waiting for some sort of response from a dev or moderator. I don't think my request for such information was unreasonable. I suppose the squeaky wheel gets the grease, though, judging by Kryo's several responses to Belanos' FOW complaints. CTD on loading a saved game is showstopper, I don't have time to play alot at once, and so am forced to save and play again later, and everytime I do I wind up having to start a new game. Talk about 'pretty much unplayable'. Once again, bear in mind I am not asking for a fix now, I am just wondering what progress has been made on this issue, and approximately when a fix in the form of a patch would be ready. Thank you.

The patch for the fog bug will include some crash fixes too.

Yeah, that's what I touted too. Since the update however, this is no longer true. Really getting annoyed with it as I tend to lose a good bit of game time when the CTD occurs, and I'm not saving every single turn... more on principle than anything else.
