Adding technology to the tree...

AI values?

I'm trying to add some new techs and when I look under the present tree I notice that there are certain AI values. I'm assuming that these values are how much and AI player would value each tech. Is there anyway to gauge such values? It appears the lower the number is, the less valued by the AI and vice versa. However, upon looking at some advanced techs, the values are less than other techs that are hardly as useful.

Any ideas that could shed some light for me?

Oh, and I'm trying to find the file that contains the government types like Republic, Democracy, etc. I can't find it for the life of me. Know where it is?

While you can change the names and such of the governments in the strings files, the bonuses they give are hardcoded.

I'm not sure about the exact effect of AIValue aside from the higher the value, the more the AI wants it. I'll have to look into that.

the 10/20/30 percent econ bonuses are hard-coded, but you could always change the requisite techs to add other bonuses. i recall someone, a long while back, trying to create a mod that'd superficially create different government lines for each different alignment. i don't know if it ever was finished, and if not if the person who thought of it ran into other problems or just gave up on it, but it's something i thought i'd contribute.

Okay, is it possible to chuck out the techs for the present governments and add government types of your own? I was thinking about this:

Just imagine that after Tyranny there is the Research Tech to have governments.

.........................----Republic----Democracy
.........................|......\_Forum......\_Capitalism
<>Tyranny-----|
.........................|
.........................----Oligarchy------------Socialism
................................\_Special Police.....\_Max Capacity

And from the Ethics tree:
(Starting after last ethical tech good/evil)

<>Religious History---Religious Studies---Religious Prominence---Theocracy
................................................................................................................................\_Divine Rite

Of course each have their own bonuses...

So is this possible?

I've also been trying to flesh out the tech tree. So far I've added a prosthetics/cybernetics branch, inspired by Ghost in the Shell ofcourse

I've got some invasion/soldiering stuff in mind, but the documentation for the invasion techs is sparse.

I also wanted to add more influence and morale tile bonuses, and to add econ tile bonuses, but that doesn't seem possible with the xml files.

I don't think your idea is possible, its a shame too. You have some good ideas there.

The bonus tiles are hard coded, and can not be changed with mods.

Whilst you can change the names of the government types and the techs required, the bonuses and the number of governments are hardcoded.
