Screen.exe locking

Since installation of the latest WB I'm getting a greyed out screen after entering Windows while Screen.exe does its thing and I get a "loading" icon. Previous versions of WB didn't seem to have this really annoying "attribute".
While it's happening I can't do anything. It was taking a minute or more to finish. Recently it just doesn't finish at all - basically I'm locked out from doing anything.
Closing Screen.exe using the task manager fixes everything and WB appears fully functional.
Can't find anything in FAQ.
Why is it that latest versions of good solid programs just get clunkier and clunkier!!

Screen.exe

W32/Sdbot-ACO is a worm and IRC backdoor Trojan for the Windows platform.

W32/Sdbot-ACO runs continuously in the background, providing a backdoor server which allows a remote intruder to gain access and control over the computer via IRC channels.

W32/Sdbot-ACO can spread to remote network shares protected by weak passwords.

When first run W32/Sdbot-ACO copies itself to <Windows system folder>\screen.exe

The following registry entries are created to run screen.exe on startup:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Microsoft Synchronization Manager
screen.exe

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Microsoft Synchronization Manager
screen.exe

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices
Microsoft Synchronization Manager
