Outer edge offset for popup menus

Hi all... I'm trying to find out whether there's an .obskin value that will set the distance that popup menus appear from the main bar. Right now, the edge of my popups always overlaps the main bar no matter what I try.

Much as I thought I'd figure it out from this article:

... I just haven't been able to. The only stuff in there seems to be for internal group items, not external items(unless I'm missing something).

Any help is appreciated!
