improvement costs

Hello All,

Is there a way to edit the improvement costs? It is to late for my current game, but for the future. I understand that there is a no auto upgrade option to pick but I did not pick it. Now, as I flipped about 5 planets in a short amount of time, my economy is tanking from the cost. These industrial sectors have have killed my 2k surplus per turn to nothing. I was about to declare war and that will put me into an economic disaster without the trade income. I have 50k in reserve but that won't last long with the big negative spending about to come.

I want to make industrial sectors more proportional to their gain. I want the starbase modules that come with the tech but I don't want 40 week build times for upgrades. the entertainment upgrades are a pain also.

Thanks
I could not find anything in mods telling me about this.

Simply edit the Data/English/PlanetImprovements.xml file with your new values. Be sure to make a backup copy or better, use the mods folder. See Cari's modding guide (stickied in the mods forum) for details on how.

In your current game I think you can delete the "upgrading to industrial sector" in the list of improvements on the bottom right of the planet screen and keep the manufacturing center (or whatever) is already on the tile. Don't delete the upgrading tile, however, I think that will delete what ever is already on the tile too.

Thanks Kyro and Gre Magus.

However, this is a dangerous thing for me to attempt. I think I will put it in the mod folder even though that will make me stop using your great ship mod despite the loading time.

you can also mod it in your KHSM or KHSM-DA folder; just copy the file into the data folder and edit it as you see fit.

This is the great thing about PC games vs console. You can change things. Another reason that consoles will never kill the pc strategy game.

Well that and the fact that in my opinion anyway, that many gamers that jsut play consoles probably would be so bored by a game like this. Without constant action and whatnot.

Long Live PC Strategy games!

I just hope the locust swarms don't move on to yet another genre after brutally raping this one. Look what happened to space simulations after RTS, FPS and MMORPG showed up
