WindowBlinds, Vista, and non-Aero laptop

Am using Vista 32-bit on a non-Aero laptop (Intel 915 chipset) and am stuck with the Windows Vista Basic GUI.

I'd like something better and am interested in using WindowBlinds (already use it on my home Vista machine) but notice that the trial version doesn't support Vista.

So, am I stuck paying $50 for something that might not work?  Or is WindowBlinds already known not to work in non-Aero environments?

Also, would like to get Vista version of the Logon changer, but it's apparently only available as part of Object Desktop.  Will that be available separately any time soon?

I believe mention was made that a Vista-compatible trial would be released soon. I was thinking with (or shortly after) the 5.5 release, but maybe it's been delayed.

However, if you have an Object Desktop subscription or a purchased version of WB (which costs only $19.95, BTW), you don't need it - you can install SDC and the release version of WB on your laptop - the license permits that; no need to wait for a Vista-compatible trial version. Your on-board graphics may obviate some of the features but it should otherwise work on any 32-bit version of Vista according to WB's system requirements info.

Yep. I purchased WB 5 in early '06. Now using Vista home premium. Downloaded SDC, and I'm now using WindowBlinds 5 (5.50 (build 100 x86 - Vista Edition)) on my Desktop. I'm also stuck with the Intel 915 chipset, but all seems to be working quite well (with the exception of a few themes where taskbar icons seem to be a pixel or two to high). Other than that, all is fine.

The shareware version of Windowblinds 5.5 will be available soon, and as Daiwa mentioned WB is only $20.

Windowblinds 5.5 should work but if your machine does not support Aero then you will not have the semi-transparency seen in some skins.
