Frozen Population Bug

Playing the Terrans, Mars population refuses to grow. It's approval rating has varied, of course, but for the bulk of my game (Huge galaxy, Tough setting) its population hit 2.5B and froze. The ceiling with the improvements I put on it is 16B.

I also built a Fertility Clinic and Food Distribution center on it with no results. Like all my planets I have at least one Farm and one Entertainment building present.

I haven't noted the problem with any other planet (but haven't canvassed them looking for the problem, either)

I have a saved game if that's helpful. Otherwise, maybe its part of the planet quality bug or somethin'

It is not a bug. Planets will only grow naturally to a certain point, regardless of the food-based cap present (you can ship people there via transports or colony ships from other worlds and they'll remain, it just won't grow any more on its own).

You can read more about this at the population page on the wiki.

Poop. So the pop cap lies? Hmph. What's the point of such improvements if you can't increase the planet's population?

How's it based, on planet Class? Oh, n/m, I'll go RTFW

I find it odd too, especially when you take terraforming techs into account.

Thanks Kyro. I missed that, and it is very helpful. I think that should have been in the manual. I too was confused why my PQ 4 planet had a supposed cap of 8 billion with a farm, yet only housed a max of ~2 billion.

It still has a cap of 8 billion (9B BTW). The population will not GROW over planet limit, but if you'd dump there a 8B, and there's enough food to feed them, it would remain at 8B forever.

just be careful moving population to boarder worlds! you enemies may think it a sign of impending invasion.
