Why subscribe

Why subscribe

I got my subscription renewal notice today. I'm sitting here wondering why I subscribe...

Last year within a week of renewing I sent 13 bug reports over two days time. In this year, one of these problems has been resolved completely. One has been half-fixed and the other 11 have been ignored.

I can get all of these programs from p2p for no charge. I see updates on p2p that only lag SDC releases by about 24 hours. Free is about the right price for what I'm getting.

So I ask, what am I paying for?

I guess this is what happens when you criticize Stardock. This should be a warning to all. They don't like criticism.

Let me say that your account is not disabled in any way, so lets make that clear.

Your question of "why subscribe" has been answered several times over in this post.

I exchanged a couple emails with TarkusShakti this morning after I sent him a personal thanks for his comments. He now informs me that his account has also been disabled.

Then explain how it is possible that he was seen according to his profile page This afternoon?

As you can see by the responses to your newest attempt to cause trouble each of us checked the facts FIRST.....
People actually bundled into this 'fanboy' descriptor [by you, and others] actually are mature, sensible and intelligent and capable of drawing their own conclusions about a person/place/product.
End of quote

And while you were posting the link to the page that was going to supposedly disappear it...*why subscribe was clearly listed to the right under Recent Forum Activity
This all is great fun! More fools and their comments, please.

So you have clearly made a fool of yourself.

I have to admit you did put your foot in it. I am kind of stupid when it comes to P2P in fact I had to look it up to see what it meant. I still don't fully understand it so I can't address that issue. I do know that the Stardock products cost money to use and own so if you are getting/using "free" stardock products then you're a theif, now only you really knows the truth (I saw where you mentioned you had a legal product). I care about that because the cost ususally ends up costing me and others who are honest an pay for things. If that's what you do then shame on you, if not then next time you have a problem think about what your going to write before you do, it will definity keep egg of your face.   and things might get straighten out. One point you made is true though StarDock/Win Customize does have a "Fan Base" but so do other skinning sites, that's part of the "community". Every person that subscribes to StarDock/Win Customize is a "Fan" some are more dedicated than others.

I may not know about P2P (for now) but I'm not a "Fool" and I don't post comments to hear myself talk, (I already do that   ) so chill with all the names. Address your issues directly to the "correct" forum and you should get your problems (if possible) addressed. Which brings me to my problem, (not here).

I didn't write this for you AngryUser/Dan Dunn to reply or comment on, just read it and do the right thing.

It would seem that the cosmos is aligned badly for the stardock forum, TarkusShakti and myself. I attempted at least 4 times to login. I keep getting set to a page with only this written: "object moved here (and the word "here" was a link) or I would get a login failed message. I use roboform for entering my username and password so there weren't any typos....And I was able to immediately login as another user. Very Curious!

'Fanboy' in this context is an open abject insult and even contrary to Wincustomize site policy.

This quote from jafo could be interpreted as a veiled threat of account suspension. Is he a person of some power here?

And TakusShakti couldn't login either - I hope he later chimes in too.

And of course this is a great opportunity for stardock supporters to make this login problem the main issue now. They don't have to attempt to answer any of the questions I asked in #46 above...

Yes it is pathetic the lengths some people will go to avoid the hard questions.

here are the links to my login issues (from my history):

Yes, Stardock Tech Support can be somewhat tardy but, really do you know of any company that isn't?

My suggestion to improve this would be a ticket type of system instead of a general forum or email. It would seem more efficient to do it this way from both perspectives.

Yes.

The "Forum" is for users to help users. It is not the official rant at Stardock site.

The subscribers of the forum try to help anyone who asks (reasonably nicely) for it. At the same time since we pay for our access we should expect the people running the site to keep out trolls, spammers and other undesirables.

One of the things about customization software is that it was originally intended for power users who could find there way around the OS without a lot of hand holding. Because of the popularity, it's now mainstream and a lot of people use the software who are lacking in the technical skills required to manage their computer. These make up the majority of the posters here. There's another group who do not follow directions that say things like "uninstall the trial and reboot before installing the full version" or "you must reboot your computer BEFORE running this program" etc. As long as the requests for help are at least polite, so are the responses.

Since we are not Stardock employees and spend time here because we want to, don't think for a minute that we care to put up crap from people who SHOULD understand that there are thousands of different hardware/software configurations and that just because a few individuals have an issue does not make the software or the company selling it bogus.

Jeeezeeee its the weekend - Ive had to do back flips to log in today - get a grip on yourself " Angry User " Your paranoia is shining through...

Jafo gives more chances to fukwits before he exiles anyone..must you be so dramatic ?
Im beginning to think you were never interested in getting anything fixed at all.
This was just a bunch of crapola to entertain yourself.

This quote from jafo could be interpreted as a veiled threat of account suspension. Is he a person of some power here?

No, it was a statement of policy.

All too often a grouped opinion different to that held by the writer is summarily dismissed as 'fanboy' comments, the implication of which is that their opinion is blinkered and flawed for that reason.

It is simply an insult to all those whose opinion differs from that held by the thread author.

At that point I have several options...

1. sigh and ignore....and again let the insult wash

2. respond with an opinion of my own [as I did]

3. delete and/or lock the thread and let it die [and attract further opinion/criticism that at Wincustomize dissenters will be throttled/gagged]

4. remove the commenters' ability to further comment here at all by expulsion or access limit [see #3 previous]

One thing we 'try' to do is to allow free opinion, provided it has at least a semblance of intelligent thought and does not degrade into a slanging match with all and sundry.

The bottom line is....by and large there ARE no 'fanboys' here at all, only free-thinking individuals who have a common regard for Stardock and/or its product/s.  The average age of the forum users and skinners here is still around 30, which is old enough to determine their individual independent sentience.

Re login issues, no, you were NOT denied access [that in itself is a rare occurrence], but I did note earlier that when I loaded a [forum] page I saw advertisements within the thread first-post ....something not expected by a site's Admin [and that bit answers your query]....

Ah, Jafo.. don't envy you, mate
Kipling comes to mind:
"If you can keep your wits
when all about you
are losing theirs
and blaming it on you,
then indeed you are a man, my son."
You're an integral cog in the marvelous machinery here.
Hang in. We're behind you.

I have many times been logged in on the front page and hit the "Forums" tab and was not logged in. Go back to the front page and I was logged in. Come back ten minutes later and everything is fine.

It's a site issue, nothing more.

This is DanDunn again. I am unable to log in. I just received an email from TarkusShakti that says he cannot log in and he sent me a synopsis of his problems (which are ditto for me using only firefox). (Funny I can always login as AngryUser)

Message from TarkusShakti:
" "Tell them I cannot login. I am in Germany and I tried this recently between 1615 and 1630 (your east timezone) Tell them I had my password mailed to me this morning.

I tried with Firefox three times like this:
At the topic page: https://forums.stardock.com/index.aspx?AID=144365 I enter my name and password, hit enter - page comes up with >object moved here< I click on here - get returned to topic page without being logged in.

Then I delete all my cookies and close firefiox and then open firefox and again repeat three times the above sequence.

I then tried with IE7. This time I got login failed messages three times.

They must have logs. If they are not a bunch of liars they should see this in the logs."

End of TarkusShakti Quote

I see a similarity between the performance of your website and the performance of your software; it's good to have consistency.

TarkusShakti also sent another message, but I can't forward it because of it's content. Please get this problems resolved because I'm just dying to see his message up on the board. he-he

I have a screenshoot of your site saying Welcome AngryUser and login failed at the same time. I see no facilities here for sending a picture. An Admin can contact me by email for the picture. Like I said consistency is good!

DanDunn, many reasons have been given as to why you should renew. The only reasons you give not to renew is because you aren't put at the head of the line and have to wait like the rest of us, which I will say again...has always been worth the wait... AND that you can get it for free by stealing it.

Seeing as how your question has been answered numerous times, by peers and Admin's alike, my question to you is why do you continue with the meandering, side-stepping, crap you keep dishing out? When will YOU acknowledge that you received your answers, whether they were what you wanted to hear or not, and stop twisting everything that is said here to suit your ever growing fear of persecution?

I hope there will at least be an apology from you for accusing anyone of deleting your account.

You can post a pic right in the forums or send one to support by email.

Exactly what kind of programming did you do? Pong for Atari?

Again this is just plain stupid - I waited a year for a reply to my emails. Are there so many reported problems and bugs that the waiting time is more than a year? Maybe this is a Freudian slip and there are more than a years worth of issues ahead of me!

I don't think you helping them much...

DanDunn (logged in as AngryUser because I can't login again)

Pls don't close this thread until TarkusShakti can confirm what I had said about logging in. Closing it might look bad...

Stardock have nothing against criticism.

What they don't like however is unreasonable rampage. You've come onto the forums with a point that you can't back up well, and you've ignored anything anybody has said that proves a reasonable point.

Perhaps you should think before posting, why post if you aren't going to take notice of replies.

And yes, as stated before you're not here to find a reason to subscribe, you already know the answer. You're just looking to stir up hell.

Don't be dumb. Just leave it.

No you can only paste a link to a picture...try it yourself (maybe next time before you try to look smart).

No I wrote EFM software for FannieMae. I did so well at that that I was able to retire at age 49. Been retired now for 4 years - and I love it! Thanks for asking.

Post the bugs/issues here. All 11 of them. Heaven knows, you have everyone's attention. Perhaps you can get what you need to fix them here. There are plenty of folks who are very knowledgeable with the software, who have already posted in this thread.

If you are for real and serious, you will post the problems here for someone to help you with. I know if I can help in any way, I will, if just to turn this thread into something positive.

The point I made in the very first post is support@stardock.com doesn't answer emails. What else do I need to say to back that up. Others have acknowledged this has happen to them. And it's many of you which are ignoring that fact.

Yes, I know.

So upload your pic to Imageshack or some other pic site, like everyone else seems to know how to do, and post the link so they can SEE it. How about the photo gallery for either of the two nic's you are using. It seems you can sign on with at least one.

You can even email me the pic and I will post it. po-smedley@sc.rr.com

OK, I'm a liar too. I couldn't login in earlier today or again this night. I see that DanDunn has posted my message about the login problems. I had the same thought as DanDunn about what Jafo said, but I might be paranoid from smoking too much pot.

Because I have confessed please help me out and tell me, because I have forgotten - what do I have to gain by lying?

This place is too creepy for me now, I don't think I'll be back. I know this breaks your heart! So Sorry!

Bye fanboys and fangirls!!

TS

PS - DanDunn tell your friend that "Fanboy lynch Mob" was fantastic! I laughed real good on that!

I confess... I confess, I kill Papa Doc with my voodoo - PLEASE don't hit me again! don't hit me again! < National Lampoon's Radio Dinner

AngryUser/Dan: Here's a short answer: renew, or don't. However, you never had a real question, just an arrogant rant disguised as one.

Lock it up and go on to better things, life's too short for this nonsense.

Okay. This is the email I received from "DanDunn" without being able to verify it was from him, this is the pic enclosed that the email claim's verify's that he can't log in.

Unfortunately, and obviously, this could happen to anyone who entered the wrong info.

I made the effort.

I await the posting of the 11 bugs/issues you need help with.
