Optimising XP for ObjectDock

Hello,

I am running XP SP2, and ObjectDock Plus. I no longer need the Start Menu.
I love it! has seriously improved the way I work with my PC.

Are there any tweaks for XP (disabling services, stopping start-up with msconfig, etc) which will improve system performance in a major way?

I have disabled the Themes service, HDD Indexing, and a few others that were unncessary. I have also pared down the start-up applications to just the applications that are necessary.

msconfig > Startup Tab = Tons of useless startup proggies just waiting to be unchecked.

There are plenty of sites that tell you what the the startup item is to be sure if you want to disable it.

Yeah, sorry I should have put more information in my question. I have already used msconfig to turn off as much as possible at start-up and services. I was wondering if there were specific tweaks that would give major performance performance improvements.

Do a search for a program called "Autoruns" by sysinternals. It can accomplish much more than you are able through msconfig, you can disable and enable startup programs and much more. The program is put out by Sysinternals which unfortunately has been taken over by Microsoft, but the program they have for download has remained unchanged and is excellent for disabling autostarts and also seeing exactly what is run at startup. If you do it with this program you won't get that annoying message from msconfig that XP gives you on every reboot.

Object Dock Properties > Performance Options > Under Memory/Speed Optimization check "I paid for this RAM please use it"

Edit: Avoid Docklets, they tend to cause performance hits.

I use FreeRAM XP Pro to free up resources. Was recommended to me by some of the guys in #wincustomize, it works pretty good.
