Can't Download Dark Avatar - Some Help Please

So I purchased Dark Avatar, got the serial number and receipt and everything.

I opened up Stardock Central and entered the serial number, whereupon it says I registered successfully, and please close the product registration dialog. I can access the various sections etc etc...

However, when I go to the GalCiv bullet and expand it so that I see Movies, Multimedia, Tutorials, and Dark Avatar (Expansion), the Expansion option still says "Purchase" and won't let me install.

I've tried restarting Stardock Central several times, as well as reinstalling Stardock Central, and I've re-entered my serial number no less than six times.

What should I do?

Try Tools menu->Settings->Internet->Refresh XML data.

I have the same problem, tried to refresh XML data but this has not worked.

I used a different e-mail address to purchase Dark avatar than the one registered with my Stardock account, is this the problem?

If so is there anything I can do about it?

Were you able to successfully register the DA serial to your main account (the same one you have GC2 on)?

Yep registered fine, but when I click on Dark Avatar to download, the only button present says purchase, which just takes me to the purchase page .

In that case I'm not sure what else it would be. You should contact support@stardock.com for further assitance.

i too am having this problem and would like to see a timely fix becuase I dont like paying for a reg key and no game.

Same here and I would have expected to hear something about it today but that's looking unlikely now.

Somewhat annoying to have paid for the game but be unable to play it.

I just had that prob trying to install DA on my XP partition. Just doing the XML update didn't work, but closing and reopening Stardock Central afterwards did the trick.

Not for me it didn't. Still waiting on a resolution, I have contacted support.

Not to moan but it's now 2 days and I still can't play Dark Avatar

I am having the same problem but it has been 4 days for me. I got a response from support but they said to just 'manually register' the serial number and I should be all set. WRONG.

Hi, I just wanted to add that I had the exact same problem as the Razius, however, I managed to find out what my problem was.

The problem was that the e-mail I used when I purchased Dar Avatar was different than the e-mail I had registered with my Stardock.net account (it seems that Stardock Central kept changing the e-mail address in my product registration to my Stardock.net account e-mail address). Once I changed the e-mail address in my Stardock.net account to the one that I used when I purchased Dark Avatar, I was able to download and install the expansion.

Lukas, there's no order record under your hotmail account in the database for Dark Avatar. Did you order under a different email address? If you have the order receipt, contact support@stardock.com or sales@stardock.com.

Same with Lumberdevil. Looking at the other ones.

Hello to all,

Mr. Dark Z I can't find a ticket in the support que for your troubles. I also wanted to post here what I have been telling thoes with ticket in our support que.

Try manually updating the serial number. Do this by going to Stardock Central,  Tools > Register Products. In that menu use the tabs on the left side to select the category then in the main window please set the software name. Copy and paste the serial number in the box and hit update to update your serial number in the Stardock Central records. After that you should be all set.

Just as a follow up if things are still not working please send us the login.txt file that can be found in program flies > stardock > stardock central.

I am going like crazy through our support que but as you can imagine it's full with a new launch. However due to my attention on that que it is the fastest way to get a resonce from us in support.

Well.. same deal here.. bought it online (chose the download and CD option), paid my money, got an email with link for SDC and a serial number.. but no download.
Registered the DA addon in SDC, but it still does not show up on the list for download.
Sorry i didnt see this thread before i bought - i would have waited on the stores.. this is depressing. Bought this today with the hope of having it for the weekend to play.

Raised the ticket with stardock support.. Ticket#ZDG-747145

My email is the same as the registation (just to answer a possible problem from an earlier post on this matter)

Hope its fixed soon.

MegaMike, DA requires GalCivII be installed and available. It's an expansion, not the standalone game. The Galactic Civilizations II - Gold Edition includes both Dread Lords (the base game) and Dark Avatar (the expansion).

I see your order records for DA and the original GalCiv1, but not GalCivII. At least not under this email address.

And.. yes.. GalCiv2 (Dread Lords) shows up with the correct Key in The Register Option of SDC

K.. did some more checking and found the following:

SDC under the register option shows the CORRECT key i have installed for GalCiv2 - Dread Lords. I bought this Retail.. not online.

However, if i try to select "Update", it tells me the email address is wrong.

I tried the other email address i have: jureidinim@rogers.com
Now it tells me it "Fails to update account" if i try to select "Update".

Leaving jureidinim@rogers.com, i select the option: Lookup Serial Number.
Entered jureidinim@rogers.com.
I got a response email showing GalCiv2.. but with the WRONG serial number. When i say wrong, i mean it does NOT match the serial number i have in the box for GalCiv2.
(printed on the CD case).

So i tried to update the SDC with this emailed number and received the message: "Failed to update account". (jureidinim@rogers.com used again).

I updated the support ticket with this information.

Please help.

Don't worry about that. They're generated based on common factors and will be treated as the same by the system.

Further question here - does SDC "search" for something on my drive to prove i have it installed before showing me DA as an option? I would think i should be able to download the program whether or not i have the original installed.
I used Stardock for the original - GalCiv2 was the only one i picked up in store.

Hope you guys figure it out soon. As in my earlier posts - Galciv2 was bought and installed and works fine. I just can't see where i will get to download DA.

No, this is based on having a GC2 serial registered to the same account, AFAIK.

I'm having the same problem downloading that you're fixing left and right - used a different email address for the original game than the expansion. I described it all in ticket ID: RGB-188708
