Vista Ultimate System Requirments

i recently got a win vista ultimate edition as b'day gift. My PC configuration is as follows:-

Processor-----Pentium 4 CPU 2.4 GHz
Ram-----------768 MB
NVIDIA GeForce 6200 AGP -- 256 MB

and 2 hard drives --one 40 GB and the other 120 GB


is it okay to install VISTA ULTIMATE on my PC .... please advise as i am not sure.

Your hardware is too far below the Microsoft recommended values to run AERO, but it should run Vista Home Basic as well as it ran XP. Microsoft recommends a minimum of 1GB Dual-Channel memory (2GB or more is much better), a DirectX9-capable card with a minimum of 128MB non-shared memory, and a Dual-Core processor. To use AERO, the card must be DirectX9-capable. nVidia is notorious for advertising large amounts of VRAM with cards, but failing to say it is shared memory, and is taken from the common memory pool (System RAM). Personally, I advise using an ATI card. AT least their advertisements will say "shared" when the VRAM is taken from the memory pool (System RAM).
