Weather idea !?

I have an idea, but I dont know if its possible to do.

I have a pretty cool dark field as my wallpaper and I'm wondering if its possible to somehow incorperate a real-time 'weather effect' on it  (so when its sunny outside, it reflects that on my desktop backround,  same for lightning etc...   -ideally seamlessly changing between weather patterns).

I have seen the mini-weather apps,  but thought a large one on my backround would be cool.

Or is this not possible !?

Cheers

It shouldn't be hard to do.  Most of the current weather widgets are "open source" and change an image.  There are also widgets out there that change wallpapers.

Take a little of this . . and a little of that . . there you go

If you try to animate the background you may run into resource issues.  I wouldn't recommend it.

And if you want to see something that's close . . take a look at the natural desktop by Stardock.

Not sure if you can set the image in SkinStudio (or if you even have it) but here's how using a .ini file.

First find an image you have as the background then note it's location. Now...

Open Notepad (or any equivalent) and copy/past this exactly as it's shown...

[{BE098140-A513-11D0-A3A4-00C04FD706EC}]
iconarea_image="File Path here"

Now replace "File Path here" with the Image locations path. include the actual "imagename".jpg

Once done, save the file as "desktop.ini".

Put that file in the folder you want to customize. Then open command prompt. Type..

attrib +s "Folder Path"

Now the file will be applied next time you open that specific folder.

...also tried it in Skin Studio & that works too, but most of the skins are copyrighted & I dont know if it's ok to save without permission !?

Works though !

As long as you're editing stuff for personal use it should be ok, but redistribution without permission is a no-no. I change out the wallpapers on logons and fix the logoff/shutdown images on my skins all the time.
