Deliberately Vague

Sundays freewrite

Deliberately vague,
that's the best way to explain it,
and I'll dig the grave,
for the part of me that died, dig it up, flatten it out and frame it....I'm patient,

With my own disrespect,
for the narcisist in me that wants to look back and reflect,

On the good times,
the underwear dangling on the clothesline,
when there was no "yours" or "mine."

We take what we need and
we move on,
we proceed.

We pave the path less traveled,
and when we're hurt we bleed.

Take each drop and mix with the cement,
get out the checkbook and pay the rent,
dollar by dollar,
cent by cent...and I'll let,

my mind wander for awhile,
in and out of denile,
to and from a frown and smile,
nursing my headache on the bathroom tile.

installed with careful precision,
and thanks to the dr. in 1981 who performed my circumcision,
although it was without my permission,
but maybe did ask me,
I guess I wasn't listenin'.

So I'll stop my babbling and perk up my ears,
and we'll never say "same ish, different year,"
we'll toast with tap water and Summit beer,
That when the wool is pulled over our eyes, I've got a bottle of nair and some sheers.

In having a little more time to read others articles this weekend, I am entraced with some of the wonderful poetry. I just love your form and the way your poetry comes across. I tend to write alot of poetry but it is the boring old rythming (spelling?) nonsense, but you and a few others that I have read is just phenominal. Thank you for sharing your talent.

Ted, I've been waiting for new poetry from you for a while!

This was a fun one! I laughed out loud at the circumcision part and the last line.

Maybe your true calling isn't poet...but comedian. Just kidding....we all know you're the best writer here.

Well I like it when people laugh when that was my objective, it's when that's not the motive that's troubling.

I liked it suspeckted was it about a possible relationship? It was funny at the end though I have to agree with trinitie.

It was whatever was going through my mind right then. I space out my stuff, but really, I'm just pulling it out of my head as I go along to see what develops when I drop a freewrite...it's fun to expose yourself like that sometimes.
