Tope three features you would like to be added after DA

As the title says, name top three features you would like to be added after DA.

The devs have said that orbital bombardement, carriers and tactical combat will most likely not be added so you cant pick any of those.

I will start:

1. Multiplayer, enough said.

2. Enhanced combat without tactical combat. New weapons, technologies that are mainly for combat, larger combat area, formations, weapon tracking speed and so on. The list could be really long and it all depends on how much love you want to give combat.

3. A new extreme AI level where it plays to win at all times. Without consideration to roleplaying and not sniping your transports because it wouldnt be "fun".

1. I thought MP was also one of those "most likely not added" issues...
2. Seems like tactical combat to me, disguised as new techs or more of a strategic approach.
3. Shouldn't even be an issue... "not fun" sounds really lame.

the extreme AI might be interesting, if only to satisfy the 'hardcore' who have 'mastered' the game (but lets wait until we see the completed DA AI before making this judgment)

my personal list?
1. epic generator
2. more starbase weapon improvments
3. more streamlined starbase upgrade system

EU2-style event engine, MP (the only other thing they can get money out of me for GCII), a revamped UP that doesn't stink (only crappy part of the game to me is the underdeveloped UP)

1. Combat enchantments. More complex ground combat for sure and maybe formations on ship combat.

2. More weapon techs, just plain old rocket/laser/mass driver are getting boring as hell. I would like to see turrets, targetting computers all these kinda things. Basicly anything to make combat more appealing.

3. Get rid of SB micromanagement, most lamest thing in this game.

Darn, I actually have more wishes in my list than 3. I agree with arstal that diplomacy parts could use something. More meaningful ethical decisions and more power over UP would be good.

Less hassle in starbase management for sure! Then deffinetly I would like to see more with the UP. It honestly feels just kinda tacked on. Let us be able to introduce bills, try to lobby the AIs, put some game changing things up to vote!

Hmm..lets see. I agree with the epic generator and advanced UP. Not sure how I feel about the Multiplayer issue, but I read a post by Brad saying he'd do it if 'the numbers showed' although only as an expansion pack so not everyone who didnt want it did had to buy it.

My picks would have to be..

1.)Alliance tweaks;aka diplomacy. Less all out alliances and more team alliances maybe, not just good vs. evil. Most games, I see the good and neutral allies and ganging up on anyone not in their group. I like the new treaty options, but what about special issues that arent treaties or alliances...more like favors or warnings? "Ill pay you Xbc a week to protect my trade routes through your territory" OR even better.."Im sorry, but to lay a trade route through my territory I must insist on a small tax to alleviate the problems the extra traffic it will cause" haha. Basically I want to be able to talk more with the aliens other than trading techs!? Why cant the player make threats and requests as colorful as the AI can to us?

2.)I read a post awhile ago about more interplanetary public traffic. Its hard to believe that there isnt any public traffic traveling about on its own, especially in the democratic civs. Private trade ships, public transportation or cruise ships. Intergalactic highways! It doesnt have to be anything fancy, just a nice little graphic running in the background. But still vulnerable to enemy or pirate attack. Hell, put that massive but utterly under-utilized fleet to use patrolling your territory for a reason. Sort of like how the frieghters run; smaller and out of the way but still visible. Or how the ships in orbit around a planet are(ps..I love that new addition.)

3.)One thing on the graphic side thats always bothered me..why is it we can get moons to rotate around their parent planet but we cant get those solar systems to rotate around their own star!? Multiple moons? Im guessing theres a problem with the number of planets and their movement cause there isnt even the correct number of planets in Sol system?

1. Political espionage

2.Epic Generaltor

3.Stealth tech, or maybe scrambler/jammer techs

1. See kryos response to this thread: https://forums.galciv2.com/?forumid=162&aid=132718#1026682

2. Seems like tactical combat to me?! Do you even know what tactical combat means? It means you control your units in combat hence it is tactical as opposed to strategic combat where you dont control your units in actual combat but rather manage them.

3. Observe the qoute marks around fun. What I mean with that is that some people argue that it isnt fun for an AI to play to win at all costs because they rather want the AI to roleplay or whatever.

Btw this thread was made so you can post what you wish to be added, not bash what other people wishes to be added. Not like the devs will add everything that they find in this thread, or even read it.

Border 'patrol'/checkpoint options so I can be alerted to 'gooks in the wire'.
A truly functioning UP system where voting options do something tangible.
And now, for the moment you've all been waiting for...
The one, the only really, really, really lacking feature... CARRIERS!
I had to say it, I'm sorry, so, so sorry.
And before anyone says it... YES I KNOW BRAD SAID NO!!!!!!!!!!!

Shame on you, StormBringer, shame on you.

1. I agree with Teancum and Evil here, I would like to see the UP get a big upgrade.

2. External ship builder. SOmetimes I just feel like designing one, but I don't have a game going (or the game I'm on doesn't have all the big hulls yet), or I don't want to load up the whole game just to get to it.

3. Snathi as a major race. Evil. Squirrels. 'Nuff said.

1. Enhanced UP, I doubt they would always be voting against evil races and for slowing things down, having only ONE sports thing ever and so on. If that could be made to be worth bothering with, that would be great.
2. More things to do with colonization. It's great that in DA you have to research techs for certain kinds of planets, but I doubt that every single race can survive on the same kind of atmosphere. Terrans and Thalans would have different atmosphere needs, as would most races. If there was another number on the planet, 1-100, and each race did best on a certain kind of planet. Then they can colonize worlds that have numbers near that, and any farther away then a set number (like 10-15 in either direction) you can't survive it. Then you can research techs to get a broader range of worlds you can inhabit. It would add a lot to the depth of the game, including showing the differences between the two races.
3. Strategic combat, mostly the formations. Ships don't always circle each other, especially if they have no weapons or have the fleet commander on them. Also, if you could train a commander and put him on the ship, you could get an experience bonus or something. But mostly the formations, and letting you choose to destroy certain pieces of the ships so they might not have as much attack or defense power. And if the damaged ship survived you wouldn't have whatever was destroyed until you got it repaired, and things like weapons and stuff would only be able to get fixed at a planet or something like that, since I doubt a fighter would carry around the stuff to fix the weapons. Maybe the larger ships, but then it could get really confusing.

1. Linux/Mac support because more people will probably switch OS after the coming Vista fiasco. I'm looking into learning how to use Linux myself.

2. Definitely a more aggressive AI playing to win, just like me.

3. Last but not least: vastly improved diplomacy! I'd like to be able to cajole, threaten, or coordinate with other AIs.

What I was saying was that it *is* tactical combat, only you want the AI to do it for you, so that you don't have to actualy call it t.c.
What you asked for, what part of it is really strategical?

3. Observe the qoute marks around fun. What I mean with that is that some people argue that it isnt fun for an AI to play to win at all costs because they rather want the AI to roleplay or whatever.

I know exactly who made the "not fun for players" comment, and it wasn't aimed at you. I guess you didn't understand it...

You want my 3?

1. tactical combat
2. robust ship design
3. individualized production and research
Reply #17 Top
1. More Robust UP
2. Revamp the SB system (why can't I repair my Starbases?)
3. More techs
4. And some external tools (map and tech editors). Official ones that I know will work perfectly.

Sorry, I know thats more than three. But I felt I had to mention all four.

Yes, this was a feature that I totally overlooked. Add me in on this 'want' as well.
Of all the wants listed, I would think this would be the easiest to accommodate, but I always admit that I don't know programming, so maybe it isn't as easy as I think.

1) Better Starbases (repair, building, weapons and defenses and Starbase mobility(ability to move starbase once per game)

2) More Ship parts and pieces for us novice ship builders.. I know there are mods but I kinda like to tinker on my own.

3) More options in dealing with Minor races.

4) "For Hire" Pirates. trade, steal, start a war anonomously.

5) Easier Map maker and as mentioed external ship builder

6)Hands on Fleet Battles. I wanna tell which ship fires what and when tageting this or that.

7) Dead Planet terraforming..If the minors can do it why can't I???lol

8) Instead of Multiplayer... Why not a Battle forum... Shipbuilding and ability to test these ships against other GC members...Contests maybe...
#1 Multiplayer over TCP/IP with simultan or turn-wise turns
#2 Multiplayer as "Play by e-Mail" with the option to play as many turns without having to wait for the other players until you meet your first enemy.
#3 Personalities / Heroes that get better over time and give unique bonuses

That's an interesting idea and I like it. It could even be a kind of 'addition' alongside the metaverse...

My three:

1. I'm in support of a better, more influential UP.
2. Make Starbases more important and, in the case of military ones, worthwhile.
3. MORE MODDABILITY!

I exceded my "3" limit earlier so I figure a new reply gets 3 more......

1) I wanna make this game to add everyone's ideas so the game gets so large I have a great excuse to my wife to finally build the Ultimate Super PC.... I wanna mortgage the house a couple times, sell the car she really don't need. She can walk. Pawn off all that jewelry, donate all her shoes so i have a tax writeoff. Use candles except in my game room where superconductor electricity is routed from every house in the neighborhood. My PC is gonnaneed lots of power to run all those processors, video cards, sound, display etc.....
My wife won't need anything outside of the bare basics. After all women survived for centuries on bare basics so man could invent and build the ultimates of the time.
As for the kids, hey they can help her by also cutting back to bare basics so dear old dad can play the Ultimate GC game possible on his Ultimate supercomputer.

I don't need anything more than my supercharged game, super power PC and a microwave and an understanding delivery service from the grocery store. Hell for that matter i may not even need my new bare basic wife. I'll create one in my GC game to help me rule the universe. Kids??? who needs em, i'll just overpopulate my planets and pluck a few million of em and gently place them on a new planet and watch em grow.
Stardock understands this. They swear every few months to give me the extra powers I need to rule my universe based off my fellow cohorts ideas as longs as I send them a portion of my welfare check i now receive since i had to quit my job since it to was interfering with my universe running.

So there thats what I want... I want it all in one game......

Hey gotta go wife just threatened to pull the plug on some other necessaties I basically need for male survival if I dont finish shoveling the driveway....

Hmmmm who really runs the universe anyway?????

Dogs and cats... but that's another issue.

I only have one big request from my time in playing the game.

Please give us an option in the interface screen so that ship movement happens instantaneously. When you're in the end game, it gets tedious to have to wait for every ship to handle all of it's auto-movement (surveying, scouting, exploring, etc.) before I can move to the next turn. I don't know about everyone else, but when I'm pumping out constructor after constructor and fleet after fleet, it starts to hurt to wait while everything moves.

Thanks!
