However i can answer Q.2

DA and DL can be backed up using the Stardock Central program. This program enables you to choose where the backup is created. Therefore once backed up it is a simple manouvre to add them to a CDRW etc. There is no direct way to back up the game in its entirity though so be sure to add any mods you use to the backup cd as well as they would more than likely require reloading at the same time.

Thanks for your answer. When I download Dark Avatar the first time from Total Gaming does it come as a Setup.exe file (or similar) that I can burn on a cd? I ask you 'cause I have my fastest connection at work but, of course, my game is at home where the connection is good (DSL) but not awesome as at work.

if you have stardock central on both puters you can d/l from work burn the file to cd and install it at home using stardock central.

If I pre-order will I pay less than if I wait for the final release? Will I be able to backup on a CD both the beta release AND the future update (to be sure that I have safe on disk the fnal release and not only the beta)? When do you think the final release will be available for download?

No, the pre-order if placed now costs the same as if you buy it at release ($29.95). You can backup the beta and final version via Stardock Central if you like (Stardock Central is the only way to download the game). The final release for Dark Avatar is currently set for February.

The Beta version is worth it alone.

The install is very painless and easy (with broadband) and also if you want it on your home computer "and" your laptop.

I currently only have the DL version of Galactic Civilization. When you order DA from the galciv or stardock site, does it come as a disk and you can install it into your computer while the other game is still installed, or do you have to uninstall DL to install DA?

DA is installed in addition to DL (DL is required). If you order a disc then you'll get one, or you can get the download-only version and just install DA via Stardock Central in much the same way as you'd get the latest updates (even if you order a disc, you can still do the download if you like!).
