Trouble with character creation

Ok, I can't seem to figure this out. I have tried to create a character to play in the Metaverse and it will not work. I go to the Edit my Character link and nothing works. I see 3 blank character slot but no way to edit them.

I have tried using Firefox 2.0 and latest version of IE with no luck.

What am I doing wrong?

I just downloaded Firefox 2.0.0.1 all to no avail .Do you think Netscape might work?

Can anyone tell me why I have the Dark Avatar icon in my GalCiv2 directory even though I don't have Dark Avatar?

Okay,I have downloaded NINE different web browsers, including Opera, Maxthon,Crazy Browser, Netscape Navigator 8.0.1, Flock, Sea Monkey, Mosaic Spyglass, My Browser, and Neoplanet, with, still, no results .I'm becoming VERY desperate.

I can't do it either. I've tried different browsers and different computers. I always get the "invalid characters". Even when I just try a name like "gdfgdsf".

I have tried using firefox 2.0.0.2, and then firefox 2.0.0.3 with NO results, I'm about to give up until sombody can tell me WHAT is going on and WHAT I'm doing wrong .

I was curious about this, so I created a Metaverse account and a character. I'm on a computer that still has IE6 on it and there were no problems. (Guess I'll start playing Metaverse games tonight after work).

Could the problem be in IE7 or the newer FF? Just a wild stab.

[edit] Hmm...My Metaverse profile says I created the account on April 6, which is when I got the game. I chose my name today and made the character, but the account seems to be tied to my Stardock account. Sorry for the confusion, if any. [/edit]
