Specular test

After spending some time playing the Galtrek mod, I realised you couldn't really play it with low ambient light. After a bit, i kind if missed the specular of SFC. So I decided to go look at the textures for the ships. My first goal was to see if I could alter ships in the B5 mod to have bits on them that matched the race colour you choose. It only took 10 minutes of messing around to figure that out, but after hours of mistakes and swearing I managed to get specular lights on the 1701 model from the library here.

All I got to do next is work out how to designate the trim colour, and i'm happy.
Anywho, just wondering if anyone would like the textures I made for the Constitution? Maybe they can make the lighting brighter or better than me because i'm not a modder, and the lighting i've got doesn't seem that good yet. The only reason I got them to work is because their so similar to the SFC way. If i get permission from the maker, i'll upload it to the library.

The areas that are lit are the bussard collectors, around the edge of the saucer, along the secondary hull, and the bit underneath the saucer... i should have made some before and after pics... but it took me ages to get the model into the game.

If I've done this right, there should be some pictures below here, and I hope their not too big.

The base/trim/engine colors in the game are determined simply by the use of submaterials. Submaterial 0 will be painted the base color, 1 the trim color, and 2 the engine color (of course any texture specified will be applied overtop the fill color, so you'd need to have transparency in the texture where you want it to show through).

Note that in order for it to work, all three submaterials must be used on at least one poly each within an object.

Hmmm, i use a basic art prog, so as far as i can tell, i've only been applying base 0. Think i need to figure out how to apply extra layers, then i can have a configurable terran empire NX

Thanks for the info Kryo
