The beta 3 of Paint.NET 3.0 was released.  This is a great alternative to MS Paint, and is definitely worth checking out.

"Paint.NET is image and photo manipulation software designed to be used on computers that run Windows. It supports layers, unlimited undo, special effects, and a wide variety of useful and powerful tools. It started development as an undergraduate college senior design project mentored by Microsoft, and is currently being maintained by some of the alumni that originally worked on it. Originally intended as a free replacement for the MS Paint software that comes with Windows, it has grown into a powerful yet simple tool for photo and image editing. The programming language used to create Paint.NET is C#, with a small amount of C++ for installation and shell-integration related functionality."

Thanks for the heads-up, Island Dog.

I used this app for a while when it was first released. It's good to see it's being added to regularly.

I remember it was pretty stable even then, and really was a great graphics program which gave many of the reputable "pay-for" apps a run for their money. Back then though, there was not much in the "special effects" area of it.

I dropped it when I bought Photoshop ...but I might just grab it again to see what they've done since the first instance.

I use this program every day, what I can't do in one program , I use this.

Great free program and it certainly beats out MS Paint by a landslide.

Thanks for update ID.
