About Custom Opponents

I think it's really cool that you can customize your opponents in DA. I also read that you can assign which ships they use. Let's say that I start a game as the Terrans for example, and redesign the default colony ship so that it's faster. Now when I start a new game as a different race, will the Terran AI use the faster colony ship design that I created in the previous game?

No. But the AI will design it's own ships based off of the technology that they have. The more challenging AIs will design faster colony ships in a very short amount of time.

The Ai's will use the templates you set for them on DA. My experience with it is a little limited. It seemed though, you had to go through the game designing and saving your ships along the way. Then you could set them to use those designs. If there is an easier way I haven't found it. This feature could use a ship builder with all the hulls open and no components available, that you could design out of actually playing through a game. Something like a designer you can access through the menu.
