Like the eta so far but having a bit of a sputtering problem while playing. Havent looked too deep into it yet as I forgot to not Alt-Tab out of the game (crash!) Anyone else having sputtering problems while looked around a huge universe? Didn't have this problem under dread lords even on a fully coonized huge universe.

You can post your debug.err to give us more detailed info about your system. However a number of people have reported that DA is just plain more demanding, with asteroids and other such new stuff on the screen in addition to all the old stuff. You may also see performance issues stemming from the Drengin super-ability, which was inadvertently giving many more ships than it was supposed to in the current public build.

Iwas thinking it was more demanding but wanted to see if anyone else had a problem like this on a huge uni before crying BUG BUG!

I don't want to jinx my "lame old" vid card, but to my utter amazement (and purely by accident) the First Trade link movie played smoothly on my system, and I've *never* seen any in-game movies play without stuttering before. Makes me wish I had neat word for "anti-bug."

Mine ran pretty good a slight jerk here and there panning around zoomed in but other wise it was great. I was also able to Alt/Tab as well without incident. It only bogged bad, but was still technically playable, when the Drengin super gave them 25,000 ships.

That was Huge, 6opp, Graphics at best with 4x AA, 1024x768

You may just need to do some maintenance and tweaking of your setup. I see a few people with good setups like yours, saying they're having slowdown issues. I think a lot has to do with how efficient and stable they have their systems running. I worked a while getting every last bit of performance out of this old system, and it seems to stack up in games to PCs that are quite a bit newer because of that. So if your having bad slowdown with a system with better specs than mine. It's most likely your system.
