Email Crash Info

Several days ago I was running the DA Beta, had a crash and sent the info to GC2Bugs@stardock.com.

After reading the email-to thread pinned to this topic, I then downloaded and installed SmartException as per the suggestion given there in the event I got another crash.

Today, with a new game, I had another crash. SmartException, after collecting the information, told me to send it to support@stardock.com, which I did.

Which is the correct location to send this stuff anyway? GC2bugs@? support@? either? or should StarDock set up a new DAbugs@ which would keep things cleaner.

By the way --- I have my Autosave set to do a save EVERY game turn. That way, if the Beta crashes, the Autosave snapshots the system just prior to the crash.

I had the same choice when reporting the other day. Don't remember which I picked.I think either would get it to the right place anyway.

GC2bugs is the correct email addy

gc2bugs@stardock.com (not .net as smartexception shows)

I've found that with SmartException - it defaults to showing .net not .com. Got caught a couple of times with bounced crash reports "email address unknown" until I realised.

That leads into another suggestion - if not already done so, Stardock should buy up their "near-too" Domains, dirt cheap these days (stops wannabe clown sites, minor hassle on unknown mistypes etc), and code in redirects on the mailserver eg a catch all *@stardock.net to whatever mailbox - its an easy redirect to put in place. Prevents some minor confusion - but the latter can often be not so minor if its an inexperienced user.

gc2bugs@stardock.net does work but takes longer to register on the email servers
