Disable surrendering

Is there a way to disable races from surrendering to you? In every game races start to surrender to me which really takes the fun out of the game. Thanks for any help in advance.

I doubt there is, sorry.

I do agree that surrendering does take out some fun (especially when you are playing a evil race bent on galactic extermination ), I would at least like say... that certain AI's might actually execute a scorched earth policy (ie: by disbanding all their colonies) rather than surrendering their planets to anyone (Korath/Drengin and Yor come to mind). Not to mention being less likely to surrender/surrendering more intelligently.

hi han, did the Borg give up to the Federation?

->you may increase the value of loyality and courage in the raceconfig ;o)
maybe some others too, they build up the characteristics of your species ;o)

hope this helps,

That has nothing to do with what he said. Loyalty is influence flipping, courage is an advantage when fighting outnumbered. Fairly sure neither have anything to do with surrendering.

I wouldn't want to turn it off, but I would like it to make more strategic decisions about it. If it's definately going to lose the war, surrender to my most powerful enemy. If it has a chance to survive, DON'T surrender, but ask for mercenary help. (I say that because I'd really love the korx to get a powerful yet small military and act as proper mercs more often).

Problem is, turning it off would make a conquest victory SLOOOOOOOOOW.

AI's should offer a peace before surrendering.

In my last game I did not even have to invade a single planet. The Drengin surrendered to me after I had wiped out their entire military might, and kept it so for about four or five weeks.

It was satisfying, at least, that they did not surrender to, say, the Korx.

yeah, but then again we are conquering the GALAXY here, should it really only take 10 years?

i'm all for korx getting pumped up to become true mercs

I dont mind when a faction surrenders, it makes sense if they feel they have been beaten. I am wanting some control over this situation though. First off, surrender should be a dipolmatic move not an event cause you should be able to decline the surrender if your evil and want to exterinate them. Second, they should not be able to surrender to someone else, has this happened to anyone here. Your kicking some one around and they surrender to another faction? That is not right. Its like the French surrendering to the British in WWII instead of the Germans. I dont know if theis is going to change in DA but I hope there is options like protectorate states options for peace such as tribute and so on.

This would be nice.

Or Neutral.

i know really but still there still should be surrendurring because if they have one planet left and one puny little defender aginst 35 dreadnoughts they can surrender but if it the other way aroung and that race thats winning or can win surrenders cuz they think teir going to lose but their actually winning makes me quite mad

It seems the Drengin almost never surrender. They fight to the last planet. Other races seem to surrender as soon as they think they're beat, like the Drath. I've seen races surrender with twenty or thirty planets. Who they surrender to can have a noteable impact on the game. For instance, if you are at war with a race and another race surrenders a relatively large number of planets to them. When playing Neutral, it seems races almost never surrender to me. When playing Good alignment, it happens more often. Diplomatic relations have an effect. Being allied with a race seems to greatly improve the chance of them surrendering to you when they lose a war. There's also the Hall of Empathy for Good alignment which does seem to work.

It might be nice to shut off surrendering, but it's one of the things that adds an element of unpredictability to the game. I don't think shutting it off would necessarily make the game more fun.
