Dread Lords in Dark Avatar?

I just started my first game of Dark Avatar, and I selected my usual opponent settings (all random races).

During the game I nearly crapped myself when I saw a Dread Lord constructor show up by one of my planets. I didn't select the Dread Lord scenario, so I'm wondering if it's a bug that they show up in this way. If it's by design, then it totally ruins the random opponent feature.

Another thing is, I wanted to keep them on my side in case they get teasy and destroy me. I offered them research and economic treaties, and was surprised to find that they were willing to give me all of their money (approximately 20,000BC) at the same time. (They must be in a good mood).

Anyway, a few turns later I talked to them again, and noticed they had 20,000BC again.

Like having a rich uncle. Is it Uncle Dread or Uncle Lord?

I know this doesn't help, but it does Bump your post.

The Dread Lords can appear as a mega-event, but if they show up otherwise in a normal game, it's probably a bug.

I looked at my debug.err file and noticed that Dread Lords has been created as a regular race like all others created (randomly) in that game. The only amusing thing is that I chose 5 random opponents, but Dread Lords had been created as 6th.

I started my second game, and after deselecting Random Opponents their race logo appeared as one of the portraits. I cleared them out and put one of the other races in their place, and now I haven't been able to recreate it. Perhaps it only happens the first time the game is run with Random Opponents (variable not being initialized properly before it saves your previous settings?).

I set my game to 5 random opponents, and the Dread Lords ended up being one of them, so it must be a bug.

2 of the other 4 were the Drengin and the Korath. That's a lot of evil!
