To Mod or not to Mod my Graphic Design PC

I have just built the ultimate PC for my fractal/abstract designs and renders. I am a Photoshop/Bryce power-user and this machine is being designed to be the ultimate for 3d rendering and animation. I want it to look really cool with windows mods, but don't want to throw away all my newly aquired performance boosts. Never having used these apps before, I pose my question to you - Is using these cool mods going to slow me down a lot?

My PC's stats - 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo, 2 GB DDR800, 10K RPM HD, NVidia 7600 DDR2 512MB PCI-EXPRESS

Shouldn't really affect performance at all. WindowBlinds, for instance, is significantly faster than the default Windows XP style.
