Where's the beta download?

I pre-ordered Dark Avatar long ago and now have a S/N for it, but where can it be downloaded? I went to Star Dock Central to check for updates, listings, registrations, anything for this game, but don't see it. I read in one post that it must be registered at SDC in order for the beta to become available to me, but DA is not in the list.

Help, please! I'm anxious for this game.

Hey Ungerdog,

This is what I had to do. From SDC I went to "Tools" -> "Registrater Products", then from the products drop down I selected "Dark Avatar (Expansion Pack)", then I clicked on the "Lookup Serial Number" button and had SDC send me an email with the latest Serial numbers.. In that email, you should get a Serial for Dark Avatar. Simply enter that Serial Number (copy from your email and paste into the Serial Number: field) and press the "Register" button. After that, SDC should say it was successful. Then click "Ok" and the screen should refresh and a download button will appear for Dark Avatar (Expansion Pack). Please note, that you must expand Galactic Civilizations II to see DA listed.

I hope that helps!

Make sure the show pre-release versions check box is checked.

Y'know, it can also be found under the Gal Civ 2 dropdown list under 'purchased software.'

Thanks! I totally forgot about that I can/should get the serial from Stardock Central.

Thanks for all the assistance. Under Purchased Software at SDC, I now see an option to Install Dark Avatar, but it won't install - it just times out. Also, in the drop down list under Register Products, DA still does not appear. I have now emailed SDC directly asking for assistance.

Make sure you have the latest version of SDC. It should say build 139 in Help->About.

I can't seem to get my Dark Avatar pre-order validated. I did exactly as Dark-Star said, requested the serial number, got the serial number, but when I entered it in the serial number box, it says it is invalid Can someone point me where to go please?

EDIT - Nevermind. found the answer.

Kryo, you saved the day. My version of SDC was 120. By updating to 139, Dark Avatar now appears in the Product list and allows installation. I AM HAPPY!
It would be nice if SDC would check to update itself besides other programs.

Hmm. Mine does.

Thanks for the answers.

It does. However there was a build or two early this year where the auto-self-update was broken and a number of people ended up permanently stuck with that version, not knowing newer ones were available.

Wow, Stardock usually has their stuff together, but it was really lacking on this download (yeah, I know, it's beta and all).

I wasted two days waiting for an email download link that wasn't going to come I guess. Then I looked on the forum and saw this thread. Even then, the auto-updates didn't offer DA, I had to go to Games -> GalCiv2 -> DA -> Click Install. In other words, I had to find out how to install it on my own, buried in the options of SDC.

I would have expected the post-preorder email to contain more information to lead me in this direction, personally.

Also, the Serial Number for DA I received in email after the purchase difffered from the Serial Number I received on lookup.
