GE FANUC CONTROL Software fails to launch when blinds are running

Unable to register OLE template server

Hey guys,

I run GE Fanuc software for PLC configuration, but one of my programs will not run when Blinds are loaded.
Initially I got the error "Unable to Register OLE Template Server" and the program would never open.
From the properties tab I have checked the Tick for "Disable Visual themes" and now the workbench opens, but I cannot open my configuration files.

Have you tried excluding the program from being skinned? Open the WindowBlinds Configuration screen and click on "Per Application". Select "Add per application setting" and then locate the exe for your program. Under "Total exclusion put a check mark in "Ignore this application do not skin it".

Restart your application to see if this works.

Hankers,

Thanks, forgot to include in notes, but yes, excluded program and children but still fails to load files...

From the properties tab I have checked the Tick for "Disable Visual themes"

Which properties tab are you referring to? Do you mean you clicked "Unload Windowblinds".

From the Windows short cut properties on the "compatibility" tab.
Did not know if that would help or not, but checking this allowed the program workbench to load.

Are you using the Windowblinds version 5.10.009 ?
I've seen posts about some installs which seem to mix old files with new and caused problems with the Per Application features. You might want to paste the system info from the Window Blinds configuration page here so someone (like Bichur) can check your file versions.

Yes, that is what was asked for.

These:

Wbload.exe 2005/12/21 01:04:47
Tray.dll 2006/04/28 19:27:49

are from the 5.1 trial version.

Did you run a trial before a paid version?
Did you uninstall and reboot prior to installing/running the paid?

Another question:

did you install as a stand a lone download or did you install using the Stardock Central Browser?
Bichur,

From your questions I believe I have installed all wrong.

I had a trial version, that I did not unistall before upgrading to paid.
I also did not use the SCB for my install, but just ran downloaded .exe.

Should I clear everything and start fresh?
clear everything, reboot

get Stardock Central and install it.

Register WB and use SDC to download and install.

Then post new system info.

Bichur,

Uninstalled, re-booted, used Stardock Central to download.

files are good.

go back and uncheck that disable themes thing

go into per application and add your app to be excluded ( reply #1) - be sure to do this for all the exes for that app

but I cannot open my configuration files.

not familiar with that app.

what file type are they?
Bichur,

Right on, From short cut deselected "disable themes".

Have added all .exe files associated with the program and they are all totally excluded.

The application is for configuration of GE 90-70 PLC's.

As stated the program itself opens up, but when I select a configuration file(.ef7)it starts to load then the whole program closes.
I think the files use activeX...would that matter?

Also, if worse comes to worse, I can unload windows blinds when working with this one App.

Thanks for all your help,

bob

Don't know about the activeX... have to see if Neil (WB honcho) or Yrag (MR WHIZard) stops by...

you might have to unload WB when using that app in the mean time.

sorry.

*bump*

anyone got any thoughts?
Might want to check the file associations to see what is set to open the .ef7 files
Reply #19 Top
yeah, .ef7 doesn't show up at filext.com
Question... have you emailed support@stardock.com? That will generate a help ticket, and hopefully that will filter through to Neil's desk.
Hey guys,

Just got back in, and the program that opens the files(.ef7) is GE Fanuc PLC Programing software "Cimplicity Control".

I have not opened a Help ticket, but will do that now.

Truly, thanks again.

Bob
