Subspace Annihilator not showing up in weapon selection.

After researching this tech, I drop to the shipyard to upgrade my ship designs with it, and it never shows up, requiring me to move on to Doom Ray or be stuck at Subspace Blaster.

Something amiss?

There is not actaully any weapon associated with the Subspace Annihilator tech. It's just a speedbump on the way to Doom Rays.
