How many books do u read per year?

ok, the question it's simple, how many books do u read per year.., now., the person who first make me this question was my mother like three years ago when i start working as a grafix designer, the thing is that i spend many time at my computer that at the end i dont have time and energy to read a book...., but well., last monday she (my mother), give me a big and fat book and tell me that she would like to see me read it at least 10 pages per day (i try to do that the first day when i finish working in my pc..., and well., my eyes burn up)... So now i try to read at least two or three pages per day  and i'll see when i can finish reading this 325 pages long book....

I read 12 a year....one each month! Can never wait to rush out to the newsagent to pick up my copy of Playboy...very good articles, you know.

Seriously, the last book I read (keep referring to) is 'The Complete Idiots Guide to XP'. The one before (and still referred to) was 'The Complete Idiots Guide to Fixing Your #$%@ PC'....and I'm still none the wiser.

The last fiction works I read were 'No Highway' by Neville Shute, and 'Cut Rate Kingdom' by Thomas Keneally, but that was some time ago. Since discovering computing and the ease/convenience of the internet around 3 years ago, I've not really considered picking up a book to read....unless it was computer related. Perhaps I should get the script for my reading specs updated and take myself off to the local library to pick up a novel or two.

Ummm... none .

I am thinking that the amount of posts, news articles, RSS's, and other material I read online equal up to a few books though .

Not the same... I know. Sue me .

I can tell you how it ended, TYCUS ...I've read 'em all.

Saves you the time you need to read it, to get on with better things ...Like SKINNING!

Last book I read was the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy trilogy [of five books] ...which I've read innumerable times. Some of the best Sci-Fi comedy fiction pieces ever written, IMHO.

Just finished reading it again last week.

The books I read before that were pretty much all of the Dean Koontz fiction/horror fiction series. I'd finish one, and immediately go and get another. If you end up liking that King book, Tycus ...you'll probably enjoy the writings of Koontz.

I always read just before sleeping, as it helps the eyes become heavy.

i also say the same to all the people that try to give me a book as a gift.., but they, almost all, end up telling me that i'm a lazy guy...

hehe, thank u Erk, but to be serouse.., before i start reading a long book, i read the last chapter to see if the story is good or interesting..., then i decide if i read it or not..

ah! and about Koontz books, i'll try to see if i can find something from him, maybe you can suggest me a title.

....cheat!

As far as the Koontz books go, just grab the first one you see ...they're all good reading. 'Cold Fire' and 'Watchers' are two I read recently.

So has my sister....she has all Kings books in hardback, including some he wrote under another name. She also has a collection of Koontz books as well (heading back to Brissy in Feb 07) so that'll save me a few trips to the library/having to get them myself.

Strangely enough, I have no problems reading text on my PC screen, but I do experience some difficulty when reading ordinary print text...will have to get my specs updated before I get there, me thinks.

I read anywhere between 2 books a month, to one a week when I've got the time.  In the past year, I've easily read over 20 books.

I'm working my way through my umpteen-billionth reading of Lord of the Rings at the moment    I pick it up every 2-3 years, as by then I've forgotten so many of the small details it's almost like reading a new book again.

she has all Kings books

what about this one: "Storm of the Century (1999)"..? this is the book i'm trying to read, it's kindda hard to read it becouse is not written as a normal story, is more like a script of a TV show., but well, i do like it, right now i'm in page 95 and things are getting realy good in the story!

Yes! WATCHERS is good. Just read it again, and even bought it this time.

Beowulf, Kipling, R.L.Stephenson... Koontz, Gregg Hurwitz. some King, Patterson, Stephen Hunter, Ridley Pearson, Chrichton, anything that's well-written and holds my interest.
Cub Scout and Junior Girl Scout manuals with the kids.
Electronics/PC texts and sourcebooks...
Fishing, hunting, tracking, trekking

I have read EVERY Dean Koontz book he has written, some 3-4 times.
On average I read 80-100 pages a night before i sleep, it helps me empty whats in my mind, YEAH ZU.. Go for it,
That averages out to somewhere between 2-5 books a month. Depending on their size.
I'm reading Eldest (from the Eragon series) right now, it is really good. Gives Harry Potter a run for its money.

Reading to me was always something other people did, i never read a single book from beginning to end till i was around 19-20, when my brother gave me the "Caves of Steel" book from Issac Asimov. One of the best Si-fi book around.

I have read almost all of Asimov's works, Dean Koonts', All the Harry Potters, Clive Cussler, and tons more.

Reading has become something that i look forward to every night. Its an escape from life. I look for books that pull you in, and build a detailed world. Dont pick on the Harry Potter books if you have never read them, they are one of the best "escape" series around.

Big. Big Brown. Big Brown bear.

So much becomes so clear.

. . . you have to make it a little harder David.

I am almost always reading two books. I'll read Sci-fi, horror, legal thriller, non-fiction, whatever. I don't count how many I read anymore.

My parents used to ground me from reading as a kid when I was REALLY bad. They'd even prevent me from reading the backs of cereal boxes.

Zu,

If i make it harder, you wont be able to keep up.. LOL

I typically manage a book every week or two. Without the public library, I'd be broke(er). I'm actually physically uncomfortable if I haven't got a book handy. Like Oscar Gordon, it's an addiction - anything with words in a row.

A definite addiction Chef ..I read a min of 2 week..And haha to bad I can't count all the reading I do online.
I read a wide variety of books from Steven King to Koontz, Tom Clancey. Also read love stories, murder mysteries, si-fi, spy stories and true stories as well as gardening and computer mags lol and just reading The Maginifient Earth's Children by Jean Auel a series of 4...Top quality series. I am a well rounded reader..
But I get my books for 75@ents a book..I have a min of 30 on hand at all times. I would shrivel up an die If I didnt have my ready supply. And I couldn't sleep a wink If I didn't read before bed,as well as an hour in the tub... better than a glass of hot milk any day.

Its My Secret

Steven King - Dean Koontz and John Saul ....my 3 favorite scary authors. If you never read John Saul - his are even more detailed than Koontz as far as descriptive events - he's quite scary ...

As for reading Tycus - I dont read like I used to. I would start a new one as soon as I finished one. Now reading makes me sleepy.

Does WC forum count as a Saga or an Epic?
