BEIJING, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- A man killed himself by jumping off the platform in front of a train at a Beijing subway station on Wednesday, local police said.
The accident occurred at 2:37 p.m. at Chongwenmen Station on the No.2 Line, which circles the central area of the capital.
The driver activated the emergency brake but failed to stop in time as the man was too close, the police said.
The electricity was cut off following the incident and the subway was suspended for 50 minutes.
