How long as GC2 kept u amused?

Where does it rate on yr all time game list?

1) Okay, just for fun, how many hours, days, weeks, months etc of yr life have u given to GC2?

7 months for me or in stardock's terms 630 man hrs, the longest by along way I have ever played a single game and can see me investing more time with Dark Avatar...

2) So where is GC2 on yr all time favourite game list, out of 100 lets say?

As I have played this game for longer than any other ever it can only have one place, no. 1, which makes me a sad fanboy and GC2 junkie...oh well

Bought the game in June I believe and been playing it ever since. Despite my "issues" I think it's a great game and pretty much what I was looking for in a TBS sci-fi game. I can't begin to count the hours of playtime, but it is alot. Totally neglected Civ4, which I purchased after GC2, and the Civ series was always my favorite. I do admit to breaking down and playing some Warhammer 40K in between GC2 sessions, just to get a little RTS playing in. GC2 addictive, hell yes. And with the expansion due soon, I fear that I may disappear into the office yet again, to the wife's dismay. But hey, that's what the PS2 is there for... to keep her off my back!!!! As far as actual game time, weekdays, weekends, before work, after work. It's all a blur, but a good blur!!

I mostly play for 1-4 hours at weekends, mabye an hour or two after school when I'm on however, it'll take something really important to get me off. GC2 has to be my #2 favourite game, very incredibly microscopically preceded by Civ 4, but that's only because of Civ 4's moddability. I love TBSs. Great game Stardock.

I've had the game for about 7 months. I have no clue how many hours that comprises, as I tend to fill odd hours with gaming rather than having any kind of schedule. Sometimes an hour a week, up to one full three-day weekend when the wife and baby were out of town.

I will say that I haven't played anything else since I got GCII, except to load up an FPS because I just feel like mindlessly blowing stuff up. And then two weeks ago I loaded up an old RTW savegame out of curiosity; one look around the map convinced me I was over it. That and the thought of the turd that CA is about to lay for their next game, M2:TW...

Anxiously awaiting the Dark Avatar beta!

I've had the game since late July. I probably spend close to 30 hours a week between the game and forums. Most nights I get up at 2AM to get in an extra hour or two of game time that my wife doesn't know about.

10-15 hours a week for the last six months. Ranked by time, that leaves it behind (and in order)

1) Civ (30 hours a week for two years. I could play it while answer tech support calls at the time)
2) Civ II
3) MOO
4) SMAC
5) MOO II
6) Romance of the three kigdoms
7) Colonization

I would say it's about to pop from 8th to 6th. It's also about where I would rate it in terms of favorites. It will be very hard to displace the early Civs and Moo.

I preordered it, so I"ve had it for eight months now. I don't spend as much time as what I did, but I still put in a few hours a week.

That will change with DA though.

Been playing daily (sometimes 12hours a day on weekends) since I got it in July. Only other thing I've played is a little TFC for stress relief. It is about to pass Warcraft II as played daily the longest. Thanks to GC2 I've got about 75 PC games collecting dust.

I've had it for about three weeks, and aside from a half week off to beat Darkstar One, I've been on this pretty constantly.

Before that, I was a huge fan of GC1, and its still installed on my machine as we speak. I've been doing a lot of MMOs, so the strategy titles kinda lingered in limbo till I grabbed up GC1 when I laid off of WoW.

In terms of favorite strategy games?

1) GC2
2) Star Trek: Birth of the Federation (this game is worth it for the Borg encounters alone)
3) GC1
4) Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri
5) Colonization (I still gotta break this one out every so often.)
6) Civ2
7) Civ1

I pre-ordered GalCiv2 in early Dec. 2005 so I was part of the pre-release beta, since Dec. 2005.
With a demanding job (plus 60miles/100km commute), young family, and a long list of to do projects around the house, I don't play all that much.
GalCiv2 goes on my short list that includes classics like Alpha Centauri!

or what she says i can

Good one   I know *exactly* what you mean.

I forgot to rank GC2 on my all time favorites. As far as years spent it's far behind.

I played Reach for the Stars for 12 years on my Apple IIe until it died in 1994.

I played Spaceward Ho! for 9 years until 2001 when I was forced onto Windows XP which wouldn't support it.

I played the original Civilization for 8 years, again until XP wouldn't support it (damn Microsoft).

I played Axis & Allies for 6 years until I got GC2. Since then I've played no other game or done much else but play GC2 in whatever free time I have. There's no doubt that GC2 is the best game that I've ever played. I'll play it until I'm forced onto an OS that won't support it or I die, whichever comes first.

shortly.
1.smac/x
2.gc2
3.the rest..like aoe2 ron

for somewhat reason civ series didnt really grabed me except the smac which is
a mile stone. lol that game was complex for nothing... but still a groly.
remember how much building can be buit? lol that was something.
like geosynchrone satellite, tectonic missile,, never had chance to use them.

i see many elements of smac/smax in this game, gc2.
what do you think ppl?

I've had this game since May, so that's six months, and I have played it a lot in that time. I have no idea what the exact amount would be. Still, it must be taking up a quarter or some days half my free time, after six months, so that's a fair bit. As far as favourite games go, there are a lot of games with more style and background in their stories, both back stories and gameplay stories, then this seems to have, especially Alpha Centauri/Alien Crossfire, but there is a replayability to this that none of my other games can match.

I's say I put in about 5 - 10 hours per week. Mostly on the weekends.

Was playing the ROME-TOTAL WAR, now only GALCIV2...how much ???
WAY TOO
Thanks alot to STARDOCK

Way too much. I have had the game for not even 2 weeks. I'm very happy with it, much better than GalCiv I, which always got ridiculous at a certain point. 2 is balanced much better and far more interesting. But I am already living and breathing this game like I did MOO3 and Oblivion. I know a lot of folks didn't care for MOO3, I love it. But you can't beat the ship designing on GalCiv2. Before I bought it, I looked at posts of new users and was a little afraid to get it. I beat the game my second try and I had it on TOUGH. They must really have not tried. They complained that everything was non-intuitive like MOO3. That's not true. This game atually makes sense. Anyway, I see myself being immersed in it for a least the next 2 or 3 months.

i spend like 150-170 hours on the game in total, sometimes as much as 20 hours a week, than its fading away till a patch than i start again.
right now its faded away again, i'm waiting for DA or 1.4 patch.
i preordered DA though so next month i should be able to play DA.

I have to admit that I do not overly play GalCiv II, even though I believe it's a great game. It does, however, keep me well entertained when I do play it, but my playing time is erratic. I believe the "Just a few more turns"-phrase is well-coined; I do not start my day by starting the game, but once I'm busy, it's hard to let go. It just progresses so easily!

I can't speak for hours a week. I haven't played it in two weeks, but I've clocked a lot of hours the week before.

I've found the game to be my favorite passtime (I mean that literally, when I need to kill time). I put it on my laptop and take it with me when I know I'm going to be waiting around for something. Beats the crap out of reading a magazine. I don't remember exactly when I bought it, but it's been several months and I'm still playing like crazy. It's hands-down the best value I've received for my money of any video game I've ever purchased. I'll buy it again when DA comes out.

On the other end of the spectrum, I've paid for games that wouldn't even load on my computer due to hostile DRM copy protection systems. You get screwed on this deal because nobody takes software in return once the box has been opened. It's like robbery. This has happened twice. Now I know better. I always check the method of copy protection before spending my money.

I have been playing it since it has come out. Not every day so say. But usually I buy a Game and play it a week. Tells you alot about a game if Im still playing 6 months after release.

Only other game that I have that has done this is Operation Flashpoint (still on hardrive in some form) and The Total War Series. Even though I don't play Rome Total War anymore I played it about 6 months or so.

Bought the game the middle of June. Played as much as "she" would allow... hehe..
Have a weird work schedule and commute 170 miles a day. Only really play when I am home and everyone else is working or attending school. I troll the forums while I am at work. I would say I play 10-15 hours a week but my computer has melted and I haven't played in ohhhh... almost a month!

Lets see, I got it back when it first came out, played it maybe a month but put it away because the first attacker bonus made it way to easy- Picked it up again 3 months ago when I was promoted to trophy Husband (got to stay home while the wife supported me in a life style to which I've become a custom) So I played it non-stop for 3 months. But now I had to go back to work, and since I have to play huge games to get high metascore's I've kinda of lost intrest... So I've got perhaps - 560 hours of play time.
