What Am I Missing?

I just recently downloaded the shareware version of IconX. I can't see how I can use it. It changes about a quarter of my desktop icons to one generic icon--white square with a blue bar at the top. It enlarges them and moves them all to the left side of the screen. I'd like to have some of the effects IconX offers but I want the actual icons and their position on the screen to remain unchanged. I can't see any settings within IconX to fix this--am I missing something obvious?

I get that with some that use the generic icon, .tga is one

right click on one, choose IconX properties, external image, browse to an icon you want to use, then you can also check to apply to all of the same file type

Once IconX is loaded you will have to arrange your icons the way you want, you are assigning a new app, IconX, for icons so they will default to location at left.
I have IconPackager and IconX running, icons set at diiferent screen position for both, IconX along bottom, when unload IconX they are at left with IP, each app remembers where you position icons for it.
As for the default icons, this does happen for some icons, right click icon, IconX item properties, select external image and browse for any icon or .png image you wish to use.
Since IconX can use .png, if you need png icons, search the ObjectDock gallery for them.
