Questions on Planetary Spending

I'm probably missing something, but I can't seem to make these figures add up. Here's a screenshot:

I just colonized the planet Grizzly III. It has a precursor artifact tile (x700% manufacturing). Bought a factory and built a spaceport.

I was shocked when I looked at my stats. Grizzly is spending 53 billion credits per week. And I've no construction going on.

Where is the 50 billion credits going?

I'll take a guess that you have spending at 100%; RP% at about 44%.
I could guess at your MP% and SP% but it does not matter how you have them broken up -- just that they total approx 56% together.

You have 10 RP capacity generating 4 basic RPs -- cost 4bc
You have 60 Prod capacity generating 33 basic prod ( approx 26 MPs and 7 SPs ) -- cost 33 bc

1+1+14+4+33 = 53bc/turn

Since you are not actually building anything the production costs should actually go back into your treasury.
The bonus RP and Prod costs do not show up as planetary expenses -- They only show up as a civ total on the economy page.
However the bonus RPS, MPS, and SPs you get do show up on the amount of each that the planet generates. I could guess at your civ bonus's too.

Think I will guess -- civ RP bonus -- 25% to 49%
SP% = 12%
civ SP% bonus approx 30%
MP% = 44%
civ MP% bonus approx 20%
Also the planet has a moon around it generating +10% production ( both MP and SP )

So for SP; .12 x 60 = 7; 7 x .3 = 2; 7 x .1 = 0; SPs = 7 + 2 + 0 = 9
So for MP; .44 x 60 = 26; 26 x .2 = 5; 26 x .1 = 2; MPs = 26 + 5 + 2 = 33
so for RP; .44 x 10 = 4; 4 x .3 = 1; RPs = 4 + 1 = 5

Of course their are other SP%, MP%, RP%, and civ bonus% combinations that'll produce the same results but hopefully this will help you figure out how all this works.

You, sir, are either psychic or the best damn accountant I've ever met.

I had just shut down production on a social project and a military project. It seems the spending levels are not updated until the turn is completed (or the save is reloaded). Upon reloading, it was back to -17 bc for Grizzly III.

Interesting that increased production equates to increased costs. The precursor tile isn't the free ride I thought it was.

Actually, I'm keeping track of what I'm doing in this game, turn by turn. I felt it was the best method to 'get under the hood' and learn the underlying mechanics. And since I recorded all the custom race information, I can just cut and paste. You got very close.

Current spending: MR: 41% SR: 16% RR: 43%

Abilities Totals:
Economics: +10%
Morale: +15%
Population Growth: +20%
Research: +10%
Influence: +5%
Soldering: +25%
Luck: +25%
Loyalty: +15%
Logistics: +6%

Political Party: Technologists
Opponents: Four (Randomly Selected)
Difficulty: Tough

Grizzly III doesn't have a moon, but it does have rings. Also, Spectral
has two bonus tiles; a 300% and 100% manufacturing bonus, with factories on each.

Thanks for the help. I now see that GalCiv2's finances are far more intricate than, say Moo2.

You might want to become familiar with your civ bonus's.
You can view what they currently are on the " Stats and Graphs " page of the " Civilization Manager " screen.
Just click on the " Abilities " tab in the center of the screen -- it is the default tab.

You can also view the planetary bonus's on the " Details " page of the Planetary screen. The details tab is on the bottom right.

Good luck with delving into the intricasies of GC2s finances.
