No WB button in Appearance tab

Hi,

I installed and uninstalled (each time rebooting) wb5 on my system a couple times with no success. I am running WinXP MCE with SP2. the only way for me to access window blinds is is from WB configuration. Anything I can do to get this fixed?

Here is what I was told by support:

It appears that you have files from the trial version installed on your computer. I would suggest uninstalling WindowBlinds, restarting your computer, and reinstalling the latest version of WindowBlinds through the link sent you in the email from the sales department.

Thank you,

List the Firewall, AV and Spyware apps you have installed.

yrag,

I am running the Windows Firewall,AVG anti-virus,Ad-aware and Spyware Blaster.

Celine,

I tried your suggestion but got this error message:

LoadLibrary("Wbui.dll")failed-the specified module could not be found.

Anything else I can try ?

Thanks

did you turn off AVG anti-virus before installing?

None of those apps should be a problem with the possible exception of Adaware's real time scanner (turn it off during the install). You also should have that Wbui file. Try this: open SDC and uncheck 'Show pre-release versions'. Using SDC, uninstall the beta version. Reboot. Open SDC and install the released 5.01 version. Reboot. If that works, then upgrade to the beta.

Correction.

Type:"regsvr32 /i c:\program files/stardock/Wbui.dll"

PS:No quotations mark included.

The Wbui.dll file is control the "Appearance tab" showing wb buttons out or not. You can right click Wbui.dll file on installed folder then press "register" command if you right click menu had this kind of option.

Bichur,
I have the free version of Ad-Aware.It does not offer real-time scanning. So it is not running.

Here is the system info again:

How do I get the correct ones ?

The WB support staff finally got back to me today and said that some of the files appear to be remaining from the trial version. He asked for my E-mail address that I used to sign up with.I gave it to him so maybe I'll get a response back tomorrow.I'm starting to think that the button on the appearance tab is not this important. If I get an answer from them,I'll let you know what the problem was(for future reference).

Thanks,

Don

This is turning into a mission........

The 'regsvr32' won't take a long file name path and frankly shouldn't be necessary using any method. If you're still game, run this: WWW Link Only use it to take out WindowBlinds or it will remove all your Stardock programs. Save your WB skins in a temp folder and don't restore them until this is fixed. After you run the app delete the Windowblind folder and reboot. Now install 5.01 via SDC.

Hey yrag, thanks for the zapper link, I was not paying attention one day and deleted the text file I had the url in.
It did teach me a lesson, do not send anything to Sure Delete without checking the content first
