Game Launcher glitch

Hello all, yester I purchased GalivII and after installing it today and trying to run it, I keep getting the Windows error message sayng that the launcher experienced an error and needs to shut down. I figured maybe it was because I hadn't updated to v1.31 yet so I just did that and the same thing happens. I know for a fact that my laptop clearly meets and surpasses the minimum system requirements. I have also registered my game with Stardock. Help please.

well, you could just try to launch the game from the GalCivII.exe file, or maybe you could try re-installing it. or you could try running the program through the stardock downloader program. But double clicking on the GalCivII.exe file should work because it bypass's the launcher, meaning it just brings you straight to the game.

Ok, going to the GalCivII.exe file works, but what should I do about my shortcut on my desktop that is linked to the launcher? Should I just get rid of it and replace it with a shortcut to the GalCivII.exe file? And is there a way to get the launcher program repaired?

If the launcher does not work, it is generally because that library is missing/damaged or because of your anti-virus software. And as noted by the poster above, you can always just change the shortcuts to point straight to galciv2.exe, if like me you don't care for speedbumps
