Actually, since my first game was submitted on April 15th and just decayed, you're back in first. And you'll probably stay there for a while since I need to catch up on a lot of things I was procrastinating on while playing my last two games, heh. So, it's really time for some other player to rise up and surpass both of us.

I completed a DA game. Only on Painful, but that was painful enough. I didn't mind coping with the all the changes, unfortunately my PC couldn't. One crash, and soooooo slow. I was only playing on a medium size map, had graphics set to low, and still..., "stutter, cough, wheeze, gaak". I have no problems playing medium size maps in DL, so until I upgrade that's it for me with DA.

Have you tried the latest beta? Performance is the main thrust of the 1.6 build they're working on, so each beta has gotten better for me. I couldn't play very well on medium in later games, and now I can play huge pretty well.

Just dropped my first 100k game for the empire! And i tell ya it just might be the last, 7 years of mopping up planet after planet, and i did'nt get 1 surrender go in my favour poor me.

We are mighty close the 9 mill mark and are well on target to be the first to break 10 million.

Good to hear. I really liked some of the new features in DA. I was really looking forwared to playing it, and was a little let down.

Whew! Yeah, i have'nt had that one yet. I did get the one with the hundreds of agents on your planets shutting done every Stock Exchange and Industrial Center. 586 (roughly) agents in total but it was only about 4 or 5 turns from the end of the game, and by that point i had all the ships i needed and about 25 mill in credits...

I was dreading the jagged knife though, that can be a real game killer late in the game.

I have never seen that as a real problem. I just mass buy transports and conquer!

Yea but late in that game i had 700-800 planets. I really didn't need the knife coming and taking 300 or 400 of them....What a pain that would have been to have to retake them all again.....

oh, hehe, yeah, i dont play very large maps at all...never had them take more then 20 from me

Ahhhhh, so this is were it all started. The Galactic High Hegemory was once a tiny empire like mine struggling to survive in the harsh conflicts of space. i would send a diplomatic character over but i dont have any left.

I am here to apologize for my absence. I have been preparing myself for an advancement opportunity within my company. The next couple of weeks I will be going in for several interviews so hopefully the preparations I am doing will help. Hopefully within the next month I will become a Supervisor.

The game I have been working on for the last 5 months is almost done.... yeah, I said 5 months. Needless to say I am going to stick with the small galaxy fights for now on. I hope to post it soon.

Well... My alternate character finally put some points on the board! It has only been about 6 months since I started this game. Right after Christmas. Man time flies. Anyway, I was able to put up more points, not as many as I had hoped for but I did beat my personal best of 17,500. I brought in 58,250 points. Unknown Joe worked hard on that game hehe.

Also, I was informed about a week ago that I got the job! As of July, no more night shifts for me! Whooo Hooo! Now I have much research and brain mashing to do to prepare! I do not think I will be messing around with any more large galaxies! Takes way to long to play. Hopefully I will be able to post games a little more frequently. I am going to stick with the smaller variety.

My first one was this weekend. I gotta tell you, it got rather monotonous towards the end there, with the turns taking so long just to move the ships around. I looked for a way to skip showing the ship movement phase, but didn't find one. Zooming out to icon mode was about as close as it got.

Another one on the way though. I think I'll push to the top 25 before getting back to my alternate character.

I haven't been able to put much time into the game itself lately, but I had some time this weekend and came up with a prototype forum banner for the HCH that fits with the AltMeta banners. The thing at the right is a rendition of our First Place Empire medal for that extra tiny bit of in-your-face-ness   

Feel free to use it, or give me suggestions to improve it:

Pushing myself into the top 25 was my goal, but that last game was a head kicker. In fact the next 7 games i abandoned as i was just not in the right frame of mind. That is why i created a new character for a change of pace....and then what did i do? Start another epic one....As soon as that is done, i want to get back to getting into the top 25.

Easier said than done though.

Very nice banner Marshall, one suggestion though. Perhaps a little bigger? Maybe twice the height of an AltMeta banner. It needs to be the dominate picture, where's atm your eyes are more drawn to the AltMeta one. A little bigger would make that shiny gold medal stand out a bit too

Hmmm... I have tried twice the height, and it just looked too gawky. I tried a few different sizes, actually, and here's the one I like best. I think it shows off the 1st place medal quite nicely now.
