AI bullys...

Has anyone else recognized that the ai are cowards, they only attack you if you're weak, they always try to get a peace treaty at the first sign of losing ground, and they hound you every turn to make peace with them. When i'm a reletivly small empire they try to invade you, but if i'm powerfull they act like you're there best friend.

That's the point. No point picking on somebody that's going to beat you...

What I'd like to see is more AI coordination, so that two weaker powers agree to declare war together on a stronger one. At the moment, once you have the biggest military you generally just get left alone unless you start something.

Agreed. Allied AIs should add their military power to see if it's enough to start a coordinated attack on someone. Right now being military power no. 1 saves you from all trouble there could ever be.

Uh, yes. That's called intelligent self-interest.

Amen, how I long for the day when the AI can band togather and form an surgicaly accurate "allied" attack force- Targeting a persons Industral planets and laying waste to there eco/morale/def mines - But I think the AI is a ways from being able to make that reality-

yea i'd like to see coalitions and coalition wars!!!!
3 vs 3 or 3 vs 1 if needed, for the fun of it.

also in the game i am playing, drengin was very strong and declared on me, my ally helped me out, together we beat the drengin.
when the drengin was down and had little militairy left, within 10 turns all 6 other races declared war on the drengin to help me out (little late cause drengin was down already)

Frogboy talked about this in his post about "mega events", one being that X number of races suddenly band togehter and declare war. He was asking for opinions on the matter, so head on over to it and say something!

That's not quite the same thing. That's just a random event. I'm talking about having a standard AI tactic of two (or more) civs working together against a stronger one.

I was kind of shocked to find that allies don't immediately join in when you attack someone. Perhaps "coalition" could be a step up from "ally" status that you have to work for?

Alliances were changed in GC2 to be basically just mutual defense pacts, as mutual attack dragged the AIs into too many perpetual and needless wars with each other.

Usually true but I have had a couple of games where the AI decides that I am just too evil to let my civ run amok through the universe. The next thing I know, war has been declared. In fact, more often than not, that is the way it happens. It doesn't matter if I have one ship or one thousand. I guess they just don't like my civilization much!

Yes, there is the negative modifier if you conquor too much. But, for instance, if you have the Yor and the Drengin nearby, you've never fought anybody but are stronger than either of them individually, it would be nice if they attacked together instead of both sucking up to you.
