Determining Video Card compatibility with WB 5?

Sorry to drag this from another thread, but I thought it might not have been seen otherwise.

QUESTION: Is there a way to determine whether or not a Video Card supports per-pixel rendering without having to install WB 5.01?

there was a fairly long thread on this a while ago...unfortunately it looks like the list pictoratus compiled isn't available through the link in the thread, but the thread itself contains a lot people's graphics card and driver info and whether they have problems with them and WB5

i hope this helps

I would think there should be some kind of way to use the directx utility, dxdiag, to determine if a system supports per pixel. Can a WindowBlinds tech support or developer confirm this?

What card are you using?

Po',

It isn't for my machine but for a client's. The card in question is an Asus V9520-X/TD GeForce FX 5200 128MB AGP 8X.

A WB card compatability tool would rock. Stardock? Got some free cycles? lmao!!

With 84.12 drivers, it will work with WB5 per-pixel rendering (not great mind you, but it will work)

Thanks for the link to the updated drivers. I'm curious about your "not great mind you, but it will work) statement. Can you elucidate on that just a bit, hehe.

Hmm, I just checked the Asus website for the latest driver for this particular card here: Driver version 81.89 and it is obviously different from the version you linked to. Are you SURE that the one's you recommended are compatible?

They'd probably have to update the tool as often as they put out a new beta. A list of known non-per pixel cards and marginal per pixel cards would be easier to maintain.

This to me, makes more sense if you want to know compatibility prior to buying a new card (or WB for that matter) - They could post it at the WB page - maybe a link to the info in the 'sytem requirements' section

It just means the 5200 is a little weak on graphics performance.

Yes
