Planetary Bases

I had an Idea about a new way to impliment a nice feature in the game: planetary bases. You land a constructor on a 0-class planet to claim it and build whatever kind of base you want.

The benefits? It would not count against the maximum # of starbases in a given sector, and it could not be destroyed by roaming ships. I would say that they would need a transport to destroy them (with no loss on the transport's side, off course. 5 millions soldiers against a garnison of 500, lol!)

Interesting idea for GC3, perhaps. I would prefer this to terraforming a PQ 0, no one would terraform a PQ 0, easier to build a artifical world.

To expand on yr idea, I would say a base built by a constructor, then u could pay for future upgrades. Vulnerable to being conquered off u by a transport or destroyed completely by a fleet.

Those bases could be designed to give u unique bonuses, different from the starbases and mining resources already in the game.

Perhaps asteriod bases in Dark Avatar work a little like this?

they are adding that to DA

Really? So we will be able to build bases on PQ 0 planets. As well as asteriod bases?

I don't know, never heard about that.

If so, I figure planetary bases on PQ 0 planets would have a greater than normal planetary maintenance cost, due to the presumably hostile planetary environment.

Far as I know, DA is just adding asteroid fields and mining bases on them.
