3 OS Choices on booting up

Hi guys,

I switched my bootscreen back to default and uninstalled BootSkins (I thought I would change my bootscreen but decided against it in the end), but when I restarted I was presented with three operating systems to choose from!

They were:

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (Original) (bootscreen)

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (bootscreen)

I know I've goofed up, but can anyone help me out please?

Thanks and Regards,
Strange Man

My guess is you uninstalled after reverting to original...but before you had rebooted....and now you see extra 'options' in your boot.ini file.

Boot.ini is a textual config file...that can be edited in notepad...and you could remove the two referencing 'bootscreen' and leave the one without as the only option.

However....

Don't do this unless you are confident with altering such files....it's like an autoexec.bat from the days of Dos/win 9x, etc.

Here's a 'typical' boot.ini....[XP Pro]....

[boot loader]
timeout=5
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
