Taskbar issues...

I find it very hard to believe that with all the skinners on this web site, that nobody has run into this problem before. I really would appreciate some input from someone on this issue. I have a few of my favorite themes that are unusable because of this issue. HELP!

First of all I'm not sure what sort of problem your talking about. What do you mean by big icons in the taskbar? Do you really mean the Start Panel? It would help if you could upload a screen shot of the Icons you mean. If it is the Start Panel, then simply right click on the taskbar and choose properties. Next, choose Start menu and then Customize. On the general tab you can select small icons and this will reduce the size of program icons on the Start Panel. If you are referring to the icons on the right hand side of the taskbar then I don't know how to change those. They do sometimes get messed up on my machine, especialy when I've been loading and unloading lots of different themes. I then go back to Windows Classic mode and reboot. This often clears up problems in the System tray when they occur. I hope that helps.

I am referring to the icons in the ql bar. I have tried all the suggestions in the referenced link; none have worked. I have two virtually identical WB themes; one is fine with the QL bar and the other has the large icons. When I inport msstyle themes, all my caption heighta are redone to the same size. I have done all the inclusions/ exclusion items suggested in windowblinds. Is it possible that this is a Windowblinds issue. I would be willing to send the problem themes to anyone willing to take a look at them. Thx! for the help.

Ah, I had stopped using the ql bar and had forgotten. But, your post did remind me .... and I started using it again.  The only problem I have had that is similar to the one you describe when it comes to icons on the task bar is that the system tray icons get trashy looking if I do alot of theme switching in WindowBlinds. For some reason the icons can become enlarged show jagged edges and basically they start looking bad. That's when I select Windows classiic theme in Window Blinds, unload Window Blinds and finally reboot. This seems to reset everything and I can then restart Window Blinds. This hasn't bothered me very much since just now I've changed my Blinds theme once since booting and the icons are still fine. If I continued to change Blinds themes say 6 or 12 times, the odds are the icons would look like trash and I would have to use my reboot procedure. Definately not a significanrt problem. I'm definately in the happy Object Desktop WinCustomize camp. Is the problem the blind theme you are using? Have you ever tried the reboot procedure I mentioned?

Actually I figured out the problem was with the titlebar size. Once I slimmed them down, all the ql icons were fixed. So far so good. I determined that anything above 24 pix height in the titlebar, seems to give problems with the icon size in the ql bar.
