well you might not like it but you need to play a long game depending on how much tech is in your designs then pretty much delete them when they come up

best way to do this is play gigantic map with veay fast research, build research centers and research for better research centers first

try to start in a corner

well there you go

thanks. well that's a pain.

you mean that i should delete them from the actual mydocuments\mygames\...ships folder or from the shipyard itself?... or does it matter?

Wiping the folder should be sufficient. However there is another folder which holds ships designed in Metaverse games. Also, any time you load a game and then save your progress, ship designs will get saved into these folders.

What this means is, if you intend on playing more than one game at a time, use different ship styles for each one, as designs which use a different style than the one you're playing as will not show up. You can see this in the filenames used for the shipcfg (which tell the game which part is connected where among other things) which start S0_, S1_, S2_, S3_, S4_ according to which style was used to make them. Thusly, you can remove just those ships when you end a game using those ships.

There's a 'delete' button next to 'obsolete' in the shipyard. Just use that whenever you get a new design of ship instead of obsoleting the old one.

There is "...My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2\Metaverse\ships" as well.

the easiest way to deleate all non-core ships is to go to
My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2\Metaverse\ships
or
My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2\ships

(depending on where you play)

and deleate all the files in the folder.

deleating the folder will result in an error.

One thing, some of those files will reappear when you load a game with active designs. Before clearing them, you need to delete all your designs in the current game or start a new one. I routinely flush those files before I start a new game. Don't like old designs clogging things up.

thanks guys. i just started a new game and i got a super earth that i don't think i want to delete. i can share it with anyone who wants it. i just don't know how to go about doing that so just tell me how and i'll post or email my saved game. here's the UNBELIEVABLE stats.

- custom humans
- huge galaxy
- 9 opponents
- 1st turn
- NO CHEATS
- NO MODS (except custom pictures)
- normal difficulty
- earth has x1 100% entertainment, x1 100% research, x1 300% research, x2 100% manuf, x1 300% manuf, x1 700% manuf

I KNOW!!! feels almost as if i were cheating. but it was all random so i can justify that.

Just start a battle of the gods custom game. You get all techs at the start.

Then delete your designs.
