Dark Avator question

If one buys and installs the new expansion, will it
be possible to play using the old GalcivII rules?

I am worried I may not like the limitations on colonizable
planets.

There are no limitations, you just need to research the required tech.

He means that he might want the colonization to work the way it does now, without researching the new colonization techs. Unfortunately I don't know, but a dev might drop by and see your question. I kinda hope they include an on/off switch - I can see the new way being annoying if done wrong.

I would assume it will be treated the same as was GC1:AP. Altarian Prophecy required GalCiv1, but the two were functionally separate (so you could run either at any time).

I was gonna start my own thread about this but I can post here as well, what are the plans for European release, I know its buy electronic download but all the payment options I've seen are in US dollars. It seems a bigger pain in the neck than a bullet to the voicebox to fiddle with paypal and all that so are there any plans to release under european currency?

There are no plans to that effect that I am aware of, so PayPal would be your only online option. If you like, you can contact sales@stardock.com about setting up something else (be it an alternate online means, or even payment by mail).

Go to www.Bol.com

Order Galactic Civilizations 2,
Wait 2 to 3 day's.
Pay €44,95,

And enjoy.

This isn't about GC2, this is about GCS2:DA.

As far as I'm aware, no shop has it. If they do, they're probably lying. This is totalgaming digital distribution only.

Thanks Kryo, I'll admit that isn't the news I was hoping for but knowing for (semi) certain helps a lot, cheers!

Oh and in response to The Sabre, thanks for the suggestion but unfortunately I live in Great Britain, just about the only country not to convert to the Euro.

R u sure on that. I live in England and pre-ordered it no problem using my British credit card. We live in a global economy now, so won't the banks do there thing ie... buy Dark Avatar in the US with dollars then my British bank converts it to pounds which I see on my statement at some ltr date? Just like when u go on hol pretty much any where in the world?

Thank god for that eh?

If you have a credit/debit card compatible with the major American card companies, then you can use that (and the currency should be automatically converted). But few in Europe have such cards, so PayPal remains their only option.

We don't live in the dark ages u know!

There r more credit cards in Europe then the US.

Most of us have at least 5

We owe trillions on plastic...yippee...

Ah, but here is the key:

If you have a credit/debit card compatible with the major American card companies

And apparently most are not. The majority of complaints I have heard with purchasing from stardock while living in Europe have been that everyone uses mostly bank cards or direct transfer, and it seems neither is compatible with US cards (Visa/Master/Discover).

Anyone with Visa/Mastercard/American Express should be able to order Dark Avatar no problem. If u have not got one of those chances r u will know someone that does, just get them to order it for u.

As a added bonus the dollar vs pound rate is very good at the mo, nearly 2-1. The banks do not rip u off either, its just there normal conversion rate. I know this from my trip to Las Vegas last yr...

Yep. But if they did, they probably wouldn't be posting here asking about payment options

As far as I know none of our credit cards are compatible with US ones, I'll have to ask (I'm only 15 and let me tell you, it sucks!)but you've been very helpful.

Used European Mastercard to order (amount in $) and no issue at all.
The amount that was deducted from my bank account was in Euro's ($ converted to Euro)

I`m in the UK and every bank card I`ve ever had has had a shiny little visa symbol on it. Shouldn`t be a problem, your bank will convert £ into $.
