Altarians - What's the story?

I've done a little searching around to see if there's been any explaination on the Altarian - Human connection, and haven't found anything. Has it been explained at any point?

It is explored at least some in the expansion campaign from GalCiv1 (Altarian Prophecy). Can't say exactly though as I never played it myself.

I bet that Brad never thought he'd come that far with the story that he'd have to explain it.

Being the last of the good Mithrilar, I Mascrinthus, know the truth.

If you read the dev journals you can piece together the truth.

At the end of the GalCivII campaign, DL Bradley travels to the Dread Lord's pocket universe. Over time he learns all their secrets and more. He becomes as powerful as the Mithrilar and escapes from the pocket universe into the distant past. However, over the eons his sense of the passage of time causes him to go mad! DL Bradley has become Draginol!!! He creates the Arnor and the Dread Lords. At the end of the Arnor / Dread Lords war, the Dread Lords are sent to the pocket universe and Draginol is sent to the planet now know as Altaria. There he creates the Altarians in his image and they displace the Drath.

At the end of the GalCivII campaign, the Thalans try to stop DL Bradley from entering the pocket universe. In various posts it is suggested they are time travelers and they seem to know of the loop in time.

I like to play the Altairians in game just so that I don't have to run into them as I play. Well, that, and I'm a Good addict -- I find it strangely appealing to run the affairs of one of the most annoying races in the game yet still keep to the moral high ground.

To summarize, at the end of the campaign, the leader of the Humans went into the place where all of the dread lords were. There, he takes all of their tech and does stuff with it. The he decides to go back in time because he is mad with power. He creates the Dread Lords and Arnor. They fight because Bradley commands it. Then he gets bored and sends the dread lords to the place he was at. Then he goes to Altaria and kicks out it's dominant species, the Drath. Then he makes the Altarians and he makes them look like him who is a human.

I think...
