Multiple repeated tray icons beeing loaded

First of all, as this is my first post here, I woul like to send my regards to the comunity.

I've been testing the trial version of objectdock for some time, and I'm getting a very annoying problem with it: many times, the same tray icon is loaded multiple times. For example, 4 sound tray icons appearing together in the same bar... not only this, but it seems objectdock doesn't load every tray icons when I boot. If I have, for example, 6 tray icons active, sometimes he loads only 4, the other it loads 5, totally random.

I've searched the forum for someone with the same problem, but I didn't find anyone it's weird, as I installed Objectdock in my desktop too and it works fine there: no multiple icons beeing loaded as well as all the active tray icons beeing loaded into the bar everytime.

I would appreciate any help to fix this issue. Thanks in advance!

You are not alone. I have the same problem. I sometimes have it with DesktopX when I use the system tray option. Most of the time I can click on them and they vanish. Once in awhile they don't.

Where did you download this trial?

Hi Smedley. Good to hear I'm not the only with the problem, I was afraid I might be as I found no topics like this on the forum. In my case, if I click on the icons, they wont vanish, they stay there all the time...

Here's an example of what happens, as you can check on the tray bar

Hi Koasati, I'm not sure, but I think I downloaded it from www.downloads.com. There's a trial version there, the one I've been testing.

Cheers!

I asked where you downloaded this because I was a little confused. There really is no 'trial' version of ObjectDock. There's the free version, which is available at downloads.com, but it has no systray function.

ObjectDockPlus has a systray...

So, now I'm wondering what you're calling the 'tray'. Is this the 'Running Tasks' maybe? Do you have the running tasks enabled, along with shortcuts? (Check the "Dock Contents" in the Properties dialog).

Weird. This implies there is.... ODock page but the TRY link is for the free version.

Stardock download page only show 'Free' and 'Buy'

Based on the screenshot TheLostHeaven posted, I'd say that looks like the systray. IF the systray's not supported in the free version (been a loonnggg time since I used it) Then what your seeing is OD Plus. Possibly/Probably a cracked version.

I'll try and answer all the questions made, altough I don't understand the importance of them in solving the problem:

the site where I dowloaded this trial version is this: http://www.download.com/ObjectDock/3000-2341_4-10529607.html?tag=lst-0-1
I'm not sure if it's the same version as I downloaded it some time ago

the tray is the bar at the bottom right of my screenshot with all the shortcut icons (check the link on my previous post)

I can't seem to find anything Plus in it, it just says ObjectDock on the menu. Anyway, I left the link, so you can check the version by there.

Will be waiting for any help. Cheers!

The questions are imposrtant, because we can't offer solutions if we don' know what is actually happening.

What you're calling the tray, most of us would call a dock, hence the confusion. You're saying these are all shortcuts, and OD is loading multiple shortcuts. But in your opening comment you mention "the active tray icons" .... if they're shortcuts, why do you refer to them as active?

Have you considered trying the lastest version?

Hi again Koasati. Oh, I see the mistake. I call it the tray bar as I tried to configure it to replace the windows task bar (with the tray icons). I couldn't manage to configure a bar to those working (now I red here that this feature is not available in this trial version).

I will try the current version and see if it's different from mine, and if so, I'll check wether the same problem occurs.

I'll keep you posted.

Cheers!

I have Object Dock Plus and yes the systray feature is a bit overzealous in what it displays. Some things like the utilities for Realtek Audio all get displayed versus just the one (Windows XP systray does display correctly).

It would be nice if could manually edit list of systray apps to display (i.e. hide/unhide). This way those people who have a lot of apps running don't have a object bar many screens long, hehe.

Thanks

With me I regularly get multiple "phantom" network adapter icons. Like others have said, I can rightclick the 'imposter' and it disappears.

I'm wondering if it's some kind of refresh issue where the app (i.e network) says it's ready (so display icon) then pauses or is interrupted and then says it's ready a second time (display icon again)?

Same here.

My other common OD systray bug is WindowBlinds gets other icons assigned to it.

Well, I downloaded the latest trial version from downloads.com and I get the same exact problem... so far the multiple icons seem to appear less frequantly, but it's still not loading every icon.

It's so strange, as in my other computer it works like a charm, I was one step close to purchasing the full version, but now I'm getting this in this system and I'm not sure.

Does the full version have any difference from the trial version regarding the aspects that both have?

Cheers!

OPen the Dock Properties dialog, and go to Dock Contents. List the options available, and what is enabled.

Couldn't agree with this more .
