MOUSE TWICTCHING when upgrading to nvidia 91.31

Ok heres the thing. First time posting any type of bug, so if I missed something I shouldve posted, bare with me :/
Just Upgraded my Nvidia drivers from the March version(dont remmeber the correct number, I think they were the 82.42 or something close to that number), I saw they have some REALLY COOL new features like transparency when moving windows, etc. After that I went and started playin Galciv2 and right out of the bat I noticed that the mouse cursor war blinking and moving VERY slow, so I figured, ahh Its a quick fix, went to options, click video and turned on Hardware cursor, restarted game, and TaDaaa, nothing happened same thing. Tryed disabling the new features on Nview Control Panel, nothing happened, tryed reverting to Classic Mode , nothing happened. Then after 15 minutes of taking a break and brainstorming, I figured may turning down the Resolution to 1024x768 would do something. I really doubted that would change anything but magicalle, It DID fix the problem, then I reverted to 1280x1024 and it worked also.

So long sotry short I got pissed cuz that never happened be4 , but I got to fix it w/o any1 elses help. ^_^

Just figured I post it in here so you guys knew, but I think it didnt happen to many ppl since these drivers are almost 2 month old now anyways and i didnt find anything on the forums relating to "91.31"

Just to point it out, i had anti aliasing off and these are my computer's spec:

AMD 2600 XP
2gB Ram pc3200 "400"
6800 gt w/ 91.31
120 gB 7200rpm

Ill post the debug.err in a minute if it is of ANY help at all.

Meant to say cursor WAS moving very slowly.

It also had a black square around the cursor, both ingame cursor and hardware cursor till' I changed to lower resolution, and reverted to 1280x1024

And just to point this out also I am not using hardware cursor anymore, normal "ingame" cursor and everything seems ok for the moment.

Hey I also have another problem with ingame movies ive tryed to fix for like 2 months now. Ive searched the forums and read almost EVERY post about sound and video sloppynes ingame, but turning off antiliasing and lowering resolution, and using hardware cursor was thought by some ppl using low end cards like the FX5200 to fix it, but it doesnt, and its only on the INGAME interface. I know Bink has problems with this kinda thing since it also happened to me when I got Civ4 and it pissed me off a lot more than this game does, but it was fixed on a later patch, and now that game plays a hell lot better than this game's movies do.

In fact that is EXACTLY when this cursor problem came up, when I tryed to fix the problem by getting the updated drivers trying to fix the MOVIE CHOPPYNESS problem.

I gotta say you guys at stardock have made a GReat game, cant stop playin it, and your support of it is SUPPER AWSOME, but everytime a movie comes along I just skipp it since it just ruins the game seeing that movies go slow as hell, when the game plays smooth as butter. Its kinda shame since Ive been playin this game sicne it came out, cuz I downloaded the game the first day and got the CE box and tech tree. Been playin Galactic Civilization since 2003 and that game had smooth movies, but thats another story since it was 2D and a lot less complicated progamical-wise and graphical-wise.

I hope by the time you guyz release Dark Avatar youve got this nail down, wouldnt want the begining experience to be ruined by something so trivial as movie choppiness.

3 HipHipHoorays for STARDOCK. HIP HIP HORRAY... HIP HIP HORa.. okok thats enough praise and ranting...for NOW

Did you uninstall the old drivers first through Add/Remove Programs, or did you just install over the top?

If you did not do the uninstall first, you should do so now and reinstall the drivers.

I have been using Nvidia cards since they bought 3dFX way back, even owned my own voodoo cards, so yes i do know how to install drivers, but thanx for the response. If you read all the posts I mentioned that I got to fix it by lowering the resolution, and turning it back up again. I just decided to post this just because I didnt find anybody had a similar bug, so I figured they should know about it to fix it on a future patch or in time for the expansion, but by then Im pretty sure Nvidia will have their newer version released, and everytime some programmer adds a feature on anything, bugs appear on some1's computer. Its how they keep their jobs anyway... Keep making new updates of the older version while adding something newer, a never ending cycle, like when you eat and take a crap later it goes to the fishes, and you get to eat them later, that sort of thing LoLZZZ

I also had issues with the 91.31 drivers. Mouse and graphic probs with this and other games. Ended up rolling back the driver to march and everything works fine now. I figured i'd just wait for the next release and try those, but 91.31 is staying off my system.

I have just installed 9131 this week because of weird problems with HOMMV. Problems resolved. I have had no problems on any of my software with the new nvidia drivers. I know this doesn't really help you, but I thought I would post because I am running the same card(s) as you 6800gt but in SLI @1280x1064 with2gbof ram and everything is very smooth.

Sound has always been choppy in GalCiv2 for me, try turning down hardware accelaration yet? I think that reduced my problems.

Good Luck

A.

Well Ive been playin the campaign all day without problems, and I dont have any problems at all, no sound glitches or cursor disappearing or anything. All is ok, is just next time I upgrade my drivers Ill have to be more careful on how I do it just in case it has problems with GalCiv2. And it was only this game that had problems till I fixed it, and I play a lot of Battlefield 2 and Prey with no problems at all.

Thx for taking the time to respond.

The issues with 9131 are fixed with 9133. Try the new one -- I've had no game problems w/ GalCiv,CivIV Warlords, or CoH

Im sorry I dont use betas, and the game is working fine as it is.

Thx you

Um, Monclava -- your debug says your nvidia driver is Driver Version: 6.14.0010.9131
that alpha driver has been replaced with .9133. But if you aren't having issues then there's no need to change.
yes, NVIDIA pooched that set of drivers, and has caused more than just this company pains with the new drivers

http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

Those are the official drivers I download, everything else is either alpha, beta, or un-official. Those are WHQL Certified, so I dont donwload new ones until this page changes to an updated driver.

Thank you for your time
