SD, Please tell us when a new build is released

I have been playing version 1.2 now for age's and just by chance I noticed that the 1.2 D/L on the stardock site is a higher build than the one I have been playing.
Now it's obvious that there being a higher build that some bugs where splattered in update 1.2, but you didn’t tell anyone, so most people are still playing the unfinished version of 1.2.
Please in future stick this info up on your news page.

Yep, and if you don’t bring this to SD notice then that exact same thing will happen with the finished 1.3 you will be playing version 1.3 build 1 when unknown to your good self the final version will be version 1.3 build 12878934567, get what I’m talking about now?

Well just crank up the stardock app before you start a new game. Then you don't even have to start your browser.

What on earth does he mean?

he means Stardock Central.... it comes with the game and when you click on games you can immediately see if a new update is available, and install it right there before you start the game.

There is always a news or journal post when there is a new build posted, along with the changelist. Just keep your eyes open, or just check SDC from time to time.

Stardock central only shows me the betas, never the finished versions.
Never mind the silly journal, they need to get such info out on the home/news page.
Tut tut! your all to forgiving, you should have at least 1 stardock employee strung up by the neck by now.

You have a "special" version of it then.

Galactic Civilizations II is out and in a store near you!

We've also been hard at work making new updates to the game for the past several months. This past month we've been working on a new version - 1.3 which is a free update to all registered users.

The new update focuses mainly around making UI tweaks, performance, AI enhancements, and more. Not quite as glamorous as 1.1 or 1.2 but for long-time players, many long-requested features and changes are going in.

The first beta of 1.3 is already available. There will be a couple of additional betas for users who want to try them out available in the coming weeks.

Here are some screenshots:

That was on their news page...I saw it, why didn't you? In fact, it's still there.
1.3 is a beta, therefore not an official release and has a few bugs of it's own (not many that I've found). Using it is optional, and wasn't headlined for that reason. How much more clear does it need to be?

Then turn off the 'show pre-release versions' option.

Im not intrested in the betas, Im talking about the finished versions. They update the builds without informing us lot. So there could be 600 versions of bonus pack 1.2 for all we know.
SDC has always been a bit iffy for me, never really worked all that well.
If your playing 1.2 then check your build number against the build number of the 1.2 update available for download from stardocks site.

The only difference between the builds of 1.2 affected the translated versions of the game, anyway. There wasn't any bug fixing.

thats why i just launch it from SDC

If you launch StarDock Central (online, of course), and go to the Games window, you will see at the bottom of the screen 2 items: "Show pre-release versions" and "Auto-archive on application update". Both have boxes next to them for checkmarks. If you don't want to see betas, make sure the box is unchecked.

Additionally, after I have had SDC open for a while, I get popup screens telling me:

if there is a new version of SDC for download, and
if there are any application updates available for those Stardock programs I have loaded - games or not.

Really - there is nothing to forgive on this issue - I think medals all around is more appropriate
