RIPS FOUND

While searching deviantart, I stumbled across 2 windowblinds/visual style skins.  These works were submitted by the following artists:  imikovacs and planetlive  and Rubenestro

Imikovacs blatantly admitted to being a thief he included no permissions in his skin in which he felt he did'nt have to do just as long as he mentioned the artists name.  The artist name whom he mentioned a.k.a. Rubenestro did'nt care either because he in-fact ripped/stole work.

Lastly, Planetlive who ultimately submitted Kol's WINDOWBLIND that was pulled if you remember because of microsofts's policy violations, this guy submitted Kol's work with a couple minor changes via cut/paste.  This guy said he modded the skin and tested it himself and his 90% free from errors.  By a lot of people not having Kol's windowblind theme they would not have know that it was indeed Kol's theme.  I would'nt have known that myself if I did'nt have a copy of Kol's theme.

There are thieves on the loose and will stop at nothing to get what they want.  The first fact about this whole shmear is that they are kids doing this stealing and just want a whole bunch of downloads is what they stated in their thread and what was told to me by them when I mentioned to them to delete this skin or I'll report them in which I've done.

But a lot more has to be done about this thievery!!

Not a good idea to post links to rips or cracks- some people abuse such links. Tycus is right-- best to report a rip to the site where it's located.

There seems to be concept problem, and it goes by the name of "Mod". It's becoming very common to see uploads that are indeed rips, being called mods, as if that makes it alright to call your own.
The term "mod" only refers to what you have done to something for your own personal use, not to be distributed as your own. Just my $.02.

That's the way it should be...modding a skin does not alter the fact that another designed/created it, thus the original intellectual property still belongs to another and should not be uploaded anywhere under someone elses name. Uploaded mod = a Rip, plain and simple.....my $2.00 worth (ok, so I took a liberty )

Devart has a 'Policy Violation' button to report rips, etc.

It works.  Just use it [clearly, succinctly and politely]...

Too bad there wasnt a button on WC ...

I sent you an email a couple of days ago - I have a feeling you may not have gotten it. Or its burried under a ton of weekend mail. You always reply .. but I also know you have a problem with your email at times - let me know if you didnt get it Jafo.

I was trying to avoid posting it here.

I took Tycus advice and reported the rips at da. I also decided not put the links as the actual names I provided will take you to their page. I think sometime in the future wincustomize should adapt the same/similar rip button as in da to protect the skinners, it will not deter the rippers and stop them but at least they won't be doing that junk over here. Of course over here if someone did try to post a rip it there's someone up on it anyways.

True - just an email away usually - or just post it in forum is quicker...

Here is the link of a complete and utterly disrespectful mindless hack of kol's theme found on DA, I still can't believe someone not only had the balls to do it but DA did nothing about it. Here: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/37092594/

just post it in forum is quicker...

Actually posting on IRC is the fastest way to handle the situation... not always is everything as it seems, so to post on the boards could inadvertantly accuse an other wise innocent of a crime which had not been comitted...tho this appears not to be the case..

I too agree that a "submit RIP" button would be a welcome addition to the site..

Ive never used IRC - not sure i'd even know how to. But your right about accusing innocent people - which is why I usually send a quiet email or 2 or 3.

Skinnit:i didnt see a rip button @ DA

You need to be signed in at DA to be able to see the Report Deviation ( skin ) button ..its present below each preview you click on to download. See SS below.
